Selection of cows

The choice of cows to be raised is important, it is necessary to choose cows that look healthy, this can be seen from the features of their bodies, for example, the eyes should be clear and not look tense, breathe normally, regularly and without coughing, while their body should be full and not lean, as well as be able to move well and comfortably.

Build a cowshed fence

One of the most important steps that must be taken before bringing in the cows to be raised is building the fence, and there are three types of fence proposed:

Fence made of barbed wire:

This type is usually resorted to when large areas are available, and the fence usually consists of three wires at different heights, but preferably consists of four wires, note that the low wire must be close to the ground so that the cows cannot escape by crawling, but the height of the fence must be at least 1.2 meters for fear of cows escaping by jumping over the fence, and it is possible that the wires are metal, and this prevents cows from crossing the wires and provides them with greater protection.

Electric fence:

It is one of the options suitable for small spaces if there is a source of electricity, and it is preferable to avoid using it in dry areas or during periods of drought.

Wooden fence:

A wooden fence is one of the types that can be resorted to to give an aesthetic view of the barn, but one of its biggest problems is that it quickly becomes infected with mold, and it is possible to resort to cedar wood, which is characterized by its long-term resistance.

Saving water for cows

Cows need clean water, and if there is no natural water source in the barn as a pond or the like, clean water should be provided in large ponds, and the water source prepared for cows should be placed near the water source, in order to avoid using water hoses for large distances, which may be difficult to use in winter during.

Feeding cows

Cows generally feed on grass, hay, grain, preserved feed, and for breeding cows, it is necessary to provide them with previous food sources, or provide good pastures for cows.

The type of food offered to cows depends on their type, the purpose of their breeding and the region in which they are located, for example: grasses and hay are enough options for breeding cows to get their meat, it is necessary to provide grain and feed for them to fatten them, while feeding milk-producing cows requires the provision of hay with higher humidity.
