Why is Madina an important city in Islam?

Are you looking for the umrah packages 2023? After Makkah, Madina is the second most holy city for Muslims. For more than a thousand years, millions of people have been going there to pray. Madinah is one of the cities with the most tourists. The holiest city is also called Tabah, Taibah, or Yathrib, and it became important when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) chose it as his new home after moving from Makkah. Since then, Muslims all over the world have given the religious city a special place in their hearts.

Masjid e Quba was the first mosque ever built in Islamic history, and Masjid e Nabwi is one of the most famous mosques in the world. Both are in the city of Madina. After the Haram Sharif in Makkah, the Prophet's Mosque is the place of worship that Muslims go to the most. Our beloved Prophet liked Madinah so much that He SAWW called it His PBUH home.

Madina used to be called Yathrib, and it was an oasis city in the 6th century BCE. When Jews and Romans go to war in the 3rd century, many Jews leave Jerusalem and move to Yathrib, where their ancestors came from. In the year 213 CE, Nero sent a huge army of Romans to kill all the Jews. But the community is still alive and well. When the Holy Prophet moved to Madina, there were a lot of Jews already living there. When the Prophet moved to Madina, different religions and clans were always fighting with each other. But Allah's Apostle brought peace to the city. A deal made by Muhammad and his followers was signed by everyone at the time. Prophet PBUH asked everyone in the city to come to him so he could tell them about the true religion of Islam. Most people agreed with Him, but it was hard for him to persuade Jews that Islam is the real version of Judaism.

Muslims thought that Madina was an eternally blessed city because Allah Almighty chose it as the place where His Prophet, Muhammad SAWW, would be buried. In North Western Saudi Arabia, about 250 km east of the famous Red Sea, there is a place called Madina al Munawrah. At the time of the Prophet (PBUH), the whole city was about the size of the Masjid and the white tiled area around it. Allah SWT gave the city that His Messenger liked best a lot of water and land that was very good for growing things. Because of these gifts, the old city is a beautiful oasis in the middle of a desert. It is surrounded on three sides by dry, rough mountains. Hazrat Anas RA said that whenever Muhammad SAWW came back from a journey and saw the walls of Madina, he would make his mount go fast or, if he was on an animal, he would make it gallop because he loved the city of Madina. Muhammad SAWW said, "Madina is the best place on earth for a follower. If they could only see how good it was, they would never leave, and anyone who leaves this city will be angry with it. God Almighty will send a better person to take his place. And whoever endures the trials of Madina with patience, I will be a judge for him on the Day of Resurrection."

Hazrat Bibi Ayesha RA said that when we moved to Madina, it was a dirty, unhealthy place. Hazrat Abu Bakr and Bilal got sick, and the Prophet SAWW was worried about them. He said, "O Allah, make this city (Madina) healthy, and bless us in its sa' and mudd."

According to another Hadith describing the importance of Madina,

"Ad-Dajjal will be able to go everywhere on earth except for Makkah and Madina. No one will be able to get in, but angels will stand in rows to protect it from him. Then Madina will shake three times from the weight of its people, and Allah will kick out all the non-believers and charlatans.

It was reported by Abu Huraira that Messenger of Allah said,

"Indeed, Trust goes back to Madina, just like a snake goes back to its hole."

During the ten years after the migration, Madina was where Muhammad SAWW attacked and was attacked. It was also where He SAWW marched on Makkah and took control of it without fighting. After Islam took over, Madina was the most important city and the de facto capital of the caliphate for a number of years. During the time of the first four caliphs, the Islamic empire grew quickly. After the death of the fourth caliph, Ali RA, Muawiyya moved the capital from Madina to Damascus, and Holy City became more of a religious centre than a political one.

During the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Madina al Munawrah was an important centre of trade and commerce because it was close to natural trade routes and paths that led to the Syrian and Egyptian markets. The city is very old and has a rich history that goes back thousands of years before the Prophet Isa A.S. The multicultural people who live there are what makes Madina so special and different. Because of its long history and unique culture, the city is happy to have visitors from all over the world. Even after 1400 years, the teachings of Muhammad SAWW can still be heard in every corner of Madina. Madina is known for being a place where different cultures mix and blend. It is also a place where people learn from each other, share their knowledge, and get both temporal and spiritual explanations in the process.
