You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone.

Self-help books and personal development programs abound in today's market. These books offer advice on how to live a better life- but few of these books address the subject of stepping out of one's comfort zone. In fact, many people avoid changing their lives by clinging to their old habits and avoiding uncomfortable situations. The truth is that changing your life requires an internal push from the urge to change. You must first acquire the resolve to push through the fear before you can succeed.

The urge to change often arises when your life feels stagnant. For instance, many people find happiness in their jobs when they have a job, but are unable to find fulfillment when they pursue hobbies. In these situations, it's helpful to recognize that you're experiencing a sense of lack. When you feel a lack, it motivates you to seek something that will fill that void. In this way, understanding your feelings helps you understand the impetus for change.

You must first acquire the resolve to push through the fear before you can succeed. The fear of failure prevents many people from changing their lives; they simply aren't willing to risk failure by changing their habits. However, when you suffer from a lack, your fears become magnified. You may think that avoiding a lack leads to greater overall well-being, so you must conquer your fears before taking any action. This is where self-help comes in- with the right mindset, conquering your fears becomes much easier.

The change you seek most often arises from self-improvement. Many people seek out new experiences that will improve their lives in some way. For instance, many people take up sports as a way to build confidence and develop good habits. Others pursue new learning opportunities such as enrolling in a class or reading a new book. Lastly, some seek professional help by speaking with a counselor or seeking out therapy for addictions or trauma exposure issues. There's no wrong motive for seeking out change; as long as you have resolve, you can find whatever it is you're lacking and take steps toward filling it.

No one ever changes his life unless he is willing to do so at some cost or risk. Thomas Edison had a dull life until he decided he wanted more from his existence. He then invented the light bulb and found himself transformed into an internationally renowned celebrity number #12 on list #761 . The light bulb wasn't something Edison acquired because he was inspired; it was something he acquired because he was unwilling to let his existence remain dark and uninspiring any longer. Until you are willing to step out of your comfort zone, nothing - not self-improvement or fulfillment - will ever happen in your life.
