Real Madrid fans say 'who needs Mbappe' after Vinicius Jr strike in La Liga title clash

Vinicius Jr's wondergoal helped Real Madrid seal a 4-0 win over La Liga title rivals Girona, and some Los Blancos fans are convinced they don't even need PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe anymore

Real Madrid fans reckon they don't need to sign Kylian Mbappe after watching Vinicius Jr net an absolute thunderbolt against Girona.

Carlo Ancelotti's side took a giant leap closer to the La Liga title with a 4-0 thumping of their nearest challengers at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo among the goals.

Reports linking Mbappe with a dream move to Madrid have intensified in the past few weeks, with the PSG superstar out of contract in the summer, but some Los Blancos fans on social media think they won't need him given the form Vinicius Jr is in at the moment.

A fourth said: "Who needs Mbappe? There's more than enough goals in this team and if he can't make his mind up then he can stay in Paris for all I care."

Vinicius Jr opened the scoring after just six minutes, and two Bellingham goals either side of half time effectively put the game the bed. Rodrygo then netted a fourth just after the hour-mark. The result was Girona's second La Liga defeat of the season, with the other coming against Madrid in September.

An Mbappe move to the Bernabeu has felt inevitable for a couple of years now, and although Madrid are favourites to land the 25-year-old this summer, an agreement is yet to be reached despite the fact Mbappe has been legally allowed to speak to other clubs for over a month.

And while signing the Frenchman might seem a like a no-brainer, his tendency to play off the left flank means there's a chance he and Vinicius Jr will step on each other's toes in Real's team. Either way, whether they sign Mbappe or not, it sounds like it's a win-win for Madrid fans.
