Chapter 3 - ALL THE SAME
I have communed with my ancestors
And here back to life
Like one who's been gone years a score,
But I didn't understand myself.
It's dawn to my ancestors,
What have they done ever since?
Nothing!
And I say nothing!
I try to concentrate
But where is my concentration?
I try to busy up
But where is my business?
I try to be occupied
But where is my occupation?
I look around
But my sight is gone.
I try to hold something
Yet my grip slips away.
I try to say something
Only to end up with a sigh.
At midday,
All are seeped in sweat.
What have they been doing?
The wise man says:
No work done!
Even at dusk,
They know not their direction.
Their steady fast feet cover no distance,
Going round and round
Like a tethered goat.
It is all useless
Just as nothing
As it is all
Nothing at all;
All the same.
