THE ROLE OF THE GOVERNMENT IN THE STANDARD OF LIVING OF THE CITIZENS

Do government has a role to play in the standard of living of the citizens? The answer is "YES". The government is said to be for the people. To be for the people means to care for them. Is it by saying without action? Is it by favoritism or by tribalism? The role of the government in the standard of living of the citizens is beyond sentimental.

It is the role of the government to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. It is the role of the government to provide jobs for the citizens. It is the role of the government to provide basic amenities such as good roads, drainage, schools, stable light, stability of the economy, drinkable water, and health care.

Those above mentioned are a necessity of standard live ing. If there's no provision for any of the above-mentioned, the citizens will live in abject poverty. Imagine a country where there is no stable light; how will such a country grow? As we all know, light is essential to people, industries, and more. Imagine roads constructed without drainage; people, companies, and even animals will suffer erosion. If there is no availability of schools, many will be on the street being useless. Education is life on its own. Imagine citizens living in fear because of insecurity (death can come from any angle).

If a government failed to provide the above-mentioned, the citizens will live in pain, fear, and sorrow. The standard of living of the citizens is paramount to annihilating poverty (to some extent), curb robbery, and more. Does the government know its roles? Questions many asked as the government failed to adhere to its responsibilities. In my country, many errors can be glimpsed that one will be wondering if there's a government at all governing the people.

Government has subordinates to help carry out its responsibilities from the local to the state. The locals see to the needs of the grassroots while the states see to the needs of the rural. Why are things not working then? Another thing to mull over. From observation, these local governments have no sovereignty. They rely on the state to carry out some duties which are most times repealed by the state. If the rule is that the locals should care for locals without consulting for approval from the states rather than supervision a standard of living even at the grassroots is insured. For the states, most of the things commissions were done by greediness and bounced back on the citizens. Many said the government is trying, of course; to some degree but there are many ways to go!

These locals and states (locals and states) are rather saddled with levies and thereby, affect the standard of living of the innocent citizens who pay the bills (most times). To ensure the standard of living, the government should work hand to hand with the locals and the states in truth. If the government and its subordinates live a good life, citizens who pay bills and God who blesses them with natural resources should be happy.
