When I moved into my neighborhood early this year, I became good friends with this POS woman in the area. She has a small kiosk where she does her business.
One day I went there to withdraw money, and we got talking.
She told me she is a qualified medical doctor from the University of Jos. She worked in a private hospital, but when the hospital was closed down, she became jobless again and has since been running her POS business to support the family and her husband who is currently not doing anything serious.
"Some of my colleagues will see me here and they will keep asking if I abandoned medicine to start a POS shop. Many of them have gone far. Some are doing their masters abroad. Others I know are working in big hospitals and driving big cars. When I see some, I will hide because of shame. But na so life dey my brother. If we follow their own, na suicide I go just commit. We don't even look like our profession anymore because suffering has taken over our body."
That day I encouraged her. I told her not to feel discouraged but to run her race and keep pursuing her dreams.
She said she was still chasing it and waiting upon the lord.
It has been a month since I went to her kiosk.
This evening I stopped at the POS shop and met her husband. So I asked about Madam and a bright smile covered his face.
"Madam dey Lagos now. She don get work for there."
I exclaimed.
"When?"
"Na last week employment later come o. Very big hospital. Na so I tell her oya oya make she prepare the go."
"Eya... God is good."
"Very soon, me and the children go join her for there. Since nothing dey here for us. Make we try there see."
I told him his time has come and God will use his wife's new job to bless the family.
He had so much to say to me. Even went on to tell me how they sold their generator to get transport for his wife's travel. Things he shouldn't have told me. But I can't blame him. When you've been through a lot in life and eventually encounter a breakthrough, your testimony will be the loudest.
I shared this story to encourage someone.
Don't ever think your efforts are not enough, because of the achievements of people around you.
Don't think you are not good enough, just because someone you are better than just bought a house, a car, a new job, or established a thriving business.
Have in mind that there is what we call time and season. Everyone has his time and everyone has his season. We cannot be in the same season at the same time.
If you see someone in their season, celebrate them and have in mind that your season will come.
It only takes time.
But your season will surely come.
