CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM

Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well reasoned opinions about the work of others usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one.

Constructive criticism means to be clear, honest, and easy to implement. It provides specific examples and actionable suggestions for positive change. This type of feedback also highlights ways the recipient can make positive improvements in their behavior to minimize similar occurrences in future.

Constructive criticism should be applied when necessary, but this should not take the place of praises. It won't take anything from you to be kind. A strand of hair won't drop from your head if you make someone feel awesome.

We really need to be kind with our words. Suicide and depression wouldn't have been rampant if we were kind with our words. At least people would not shy away from opening up to others.

The death and disfigurement that comes as a result of failed surgeries won't be rampant if we were kind with our words. It is the body shaming that pushes people into doing these things.

How about cryptic pregnancies, baby factories and the rest? Perhaps, all these won't be a thing if we were kind with our words. It's the shaming that comes with childlessness that leads to this.

How to criticize constructively

1.Talk about the strengths, share areas of improvement, share positive results of areas addressed.

2. Focus on the situation, not the person.

3. Give recommendations on how to improve, don't make assumptions (focus on what you know NOT what you think you know).

I've always been of the opinion that people who claim to always "say their minds" are just rude, period. They hide under it to display arrogance and lack of emotional intelligence. The Irony of this whole thing is that oftentimes, people who are quick to dish out negative words cannot take what they give out. The slightest negative criticism breaks them.

One of the greatest needs of every human, adult or child, is to feel loved and respected. Everyone wants to feel good, we all deserve it. We ought to be praised, appreciated and encouraged.
