I unlocked a new phobia years ago, Fears of the many eyed, many legs creature. A spider, spiders. So it all started years ago. Whenever I watch a movie at night, I switch of the lights. So in this particular night I had the usual routine. Switch off the light, Cuddle my blanket while watching. There was this famous Kenyan comedian on the reality show i was watching, so it was all bustling and cackling. Till I felt it, the eyes that were on me. Right there on the carpet was this dark thing. I ignored it thinking that it was just a figment of my imagination. Ever watched a horror movie and then your brain makes up this unnecessary scenes? Well I learned to ignore them.

But I felt quite uncomfortable. So I switched on the light and there it was. A giant hairy monster. My heart started beating like crazy and I cried. Yes, I cried because of a spider. My mother was asleep then since it was about midnight. So I picked my hero, My cat. Such a bad idea. The monster retreated under the sofa. I could not stay in the house as long as it was there and the coffee table I was balancing on could not protect me for long. So I chose to be selfish. I woke my mother up. Again, yes, am a coward. She killed as I was hiding in my bedroom. From that day onwards I became a spider detector. New ability unlocked. Do I still switch off the light? No!! Why would I let them sneak up on me like they do? So what's your phobia and how did you unlock it?
