  生まれ持った才能には差がある。

　まず、この現実を真剣に受け止める必要がある。私は音痴だから、いくら努力して練習を繰り返してもプロの歌手にはなれない。プロの歌手は「生まれつき才能がある」人たちが「訓練を繰り返し」「競争に勝ち抜く」必要がある。

　それは受験も同じこと。東大や京大に合格するには「生まれつき才能」があり」「経済的に恵まれた家庭環境」に育った子が圧倒的に有利だ。極めて稀に例外はあるものの、東大生の両親の収入が平均よりはるかに多いことは有名な事実だ。

　だから、予備校業界では「才能のある生徒」を集めるのに躍起になるのは当たり前のことなのだ。そうしないと、倒産してしまう。

There is a difference in natural talent.

　First, we need to take this reality seriously. I am tone deaf, so no matter how hard I work and how many times I practice, I will never become a professional singer. Professional singers need people who are "naturally talented" to "train repeatedly" and "win the competition.

　It is the same with entrance examinations. To pass the entrance examinations for Tokyo University and Kyoto University, children who are "naturally talented" and who grow up in "economically blessed family environments" have an overwhelming advantage. Although there are extremely rare exceptions, it is a well-known fact that the income of the parents of Tokyo University students is much higher than the average.

　So it is only natural that the prep school industry is eager to attract "talented students. Otherwise, they would go bankrupt.
