Konami is making a nostalgic return, announcing two new classic game collections featuring Felix the Cat and Rocket Knight Adventures, destined for release on modern platforms. The gaming giant has been actively preserving and reintroducing its vintage titles to a new audience, evident in the successful re-release collections of Castlevania and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Konami is once again partnering with Limited Run Games to bring some of its classic titles to contemporary platforms.
The anticipation for Felix the Cat's return was fueled by an ESRB rating filed in November 2023, a customary precursor to an imminent game release. In a more unexpected move, Konami is reviving Rocket Knight Adventures, a somewhat obscure title compared to the well-known Felix the Cat cartoon. Limited Run Games provided detailed information on the two classic gaming collections, named Felix the Cat and Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked. These collections have been ported using Limited Run's Carbon Engine, a specialized development tool ensuring smooth gameplay on modern platforms.

The Felix the Cat collection includes both the NES and Game Boy versions, while Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked comprises the original Rocket Knight Adventures, Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2, and Sparkster. Both collections are set to release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5. The pre-order window for Rocket Knight Adventures is from January 19 to February 18, while Felix the Cat's pre-order period is February 9 to March 10. Fans can purchase physical editions of these Konami classics on Limited Run's website and opt for special editions that come with additional goodies. The "Classic" edition offers a reversible cover, a special case resembling the original game's box art, a poster, and a CD soundtrack. For Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked, an "Ultimate" edition is available, featuring all the aforementioned extras, along with a full-sized comic book, a statue, a display case, and a design document collection.
