In 2009, Nell Shakespeare embarked on a spontaneous adventure to Ibiza alongside her best mate and fellow vocalist, Gemima Gallier. Hailing from Shropshire, UK, the pair ventured to the picturesque island with little knowledge of what awaited them. Little did Nell know, this impulsive decision would alter the course of her life in ways she could never have imagined.



Upon arriving on the island, it might be surprising to learn that Nell, who has graced the stage for the past decade, once struggled with direction and lacked confidence in her voice. The transformation from a hesitant performer to the vibrant musician we know today was guided by the supportive community of inspiring island inhabitants. Soon-to-be marrieds



Conquering her stage fright became a journey of trials and triumphs, primarily at Hogans, a West End rock bar that now resides in memories. This venue provided Nell with her first stage since before she could legally drink. Following a summer of late-night sessions with Gemima and the best of the West, Hogans recognized their talent and offered them the coveted roles of nightly singers for the 2010 season.



Teaming up with Alex O'Brien, Nell formed a trio that eventually evolved into the dynamic live band, The Rolling Soul. At the age of 24, Nell found herself immersed in a job that she had never dared dream of. The dedication to creativity and innovation in their cover performances didn't go unnoticed, earning them prestigious bookings for private parties in opulent locations.



Event planners; Nell's passion for nurturing talent extended beyond the stage. Her teaching journey commenced around the same time, yielding remarkable success with young and aspiring talents from Morna International College. This laid the foundation for The Rock Chick Workshop, a platform offering a full day of recording and music video production for young kids, creating lasting memories and inspiring the next generation of musicians.



In addition to her work with children, Nell ventured into creating The Ibiza Choir. Here, she imparted the intricacies of full harmonies, teaching groups of up to 15 people the uplifting house classics that echoed across the island.



Nell's teaching style, whether with children or adults, is a testament to her instinctive, physical, fun, expressive, and energetic approach. Offering lessons in guitar, vocals, songwriting, and confidence skills for the stage, Nell's impact is far-reaching. Despite being self-taught on her instruments, she holds a National Diploma in Music Performance. She attributes her musical prowess to hours spent listening and imitating vocal heroes like Aretha Franklin, Alanis Morrisette, Robert Plant, and Alicia Keys.
