Most times we are quick to assume that heartbreak comes only from lovers but boy are we wrong

It is the people who we hold dear and call family

For they have an inner access to our lives than others do

So it is easier for them to penetrate the walls we have built around ourselves 

I’d rather get my heart broken by a stranger any day than let my family break that string

Lovers are often replaceable but what do we do about family 

A nuclear unit created cannot replace the womb that bore us

A child’s laughter cannot replace the scratchy laughter of our father

So tell me, how do we heal from family
