[Matthew 14: 6 But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod. 7 Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. 8 So she, having been prompted by her mother, said, “Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”]
Often times we speak to people anything and anyhow. We do not select what we can say to people appropriately. What we do not realise is that some of the things we say can cost us dearly. In the scripture above, king Herod held his birthday party. Then his daughter danced so well such that he went on to promise her anything she wanted. After consulting her mother she came to him and asked for the head of John the Baptist. The party which was a place of celebration Herod became sorrowful. He never had any idea of what his daughter would ask.
It is time that we begging to tame what we say. Let us use appropriate words when we talk to people. Careless words can land us in problems. Some of us have lost marriages. Others have lost big business contracts while others have lost employment. May the Lord give us wisdom as we talk to other people.
