　私は塾講師をしているので、人間を偏差値ランクで評価していると思われることが多い。

「俺みたいな低い偏差値の人間をクズだと思っているに違いない」

　といった類の言葉をたまに耳にする。もと奥さんにも言われた。

　確かに偏差値の低いグループの平均的な生徒は躾がなっていない場合が多い。粗暴で下品な子が多い。私の塾でも低学力の子が集まっていた頃は、トイレはうんこがよくこびり付いていたり、教室備え付けの問題集が盗まれたり、月謝の踏み倒しが多かった。

　しかし、低学力グループの中には高学力グループにはない「謙虚」で「向上心」の強い子もいる。多くの高学力グループの生徒は偏差値３５前後の子をバカにする。傲慢なのだ。それに比べて低学力の子の中には他人の辛さを思いやれる優しい子も多い。

　要するに、それぞれの個性であって長所も短所もあるわけだ。学校や塾は、合格実績を残さないと倒産（統廃合されて）してしまうので成績優秀者を集めなくてはビジネスとして成立しない。

　でも、だからといって成績が優秀な生徒が人間的にも上等だとは考えていない。

　Since I am a tutoring teacher, people often think that I evaluate people by their deviation rank.

　I sometimes hear people say things like,

 "He must think people with a low deviation like me are scum."

　I sometimes heard such kind of words. My ex-wife also told me this.

　It is true that the average student in a low deviation group often lacks discipline. Many of them are rough and vulgar. At my cram school, when the low-achieving students were gathered together, the toilets were often covered with feces, the problem books provided in the classroom were often stolen, and there were many cases of students not paying their monthly fees.

　However, some students in the low-achieving group are "humble" and "ambitious" in a way that the high-achieving group is not. Many students in the high-achieving group make fun of students with a deviation of around 35. They are arrogant. In contrast, many of the students in the low-achieving group are kind and considerate of others' hardships.

　In short, they are all unique and have their own strengths and weaknesses. Schools and cram schools have to have successful results or they will go out of business.

　However, this does not mean that students with excellent grades are also superior human beings.
