Dreams
They said it's a crime to hawk our dreams in daylight,
Inflated the price of peace till it cost our lives,
forced our bodies to party with their bullets
till mourning our brothers became an after-party.
they stalk our dreams like predators stalking their preys
and do not turn back till a future is tamed in cold blood,
till the radio flags obituaries of stars shot in their primes,
till our world is cold enough to freeze our ambitions,
and till there's nowhere safe to keep our souls from fading.
our lights are growing dim, the future is groaning in pain
our hopes are growing dark, the brutality is leaving us empty.
do not forget to remember we are the salt of this nation
And for every loss, we lose our savor
