Her father tells the tale of the ancient gods

The early gods

I was too young to remember when the earliest gods existed. My father told me that when he was young, the gods walked with us humans, side by side. It was an era of peace and tranquility, for the gods were benevolent and they loved us. The land was fruitful and bountiful, and all your problems could be answered away with an offering to a god.

I later came to find out that the gods were just another species, with special abilities, and a much, much longer lifespan than the typical human. They were the first here on this land, and they built this place with love and care.

The goddess Gaia, goddess of science, was the mother of humanity, eventually. It is said that a new god could only be born after every 300 years, and Gaia was frustrated at this flaw in their genes. She experimented on herself severally, to tweek her genes so she could birth more gods, much sooner.

The first one hundred were born. Our ancestors. Only, they came out smaller, weaker, and without the godlike abilities. But Gaia did love her children, and she blessed them, and her brothers and sisters loved them too.

The humans did inherit the changed gene, and they proliferated and multiplied, generation after generation, evolving everytime into better ones, till by the time Gaia's one hundred had passed, she had million more children.

Humans soon spread all over the land, numbering a billion to one god. The humans were good for the gods, for they made them discover their abilities even more. Thus the god of healing came to know that he could heal the lesser beings, and the goddess of wealth came to know that she could bless them with riches. The goddess of fertility came to know that she could provide them with more children, and the god of rain saw how much his gift meant to the humans and their crops and livestock.

The gods blessed the humans with knowledge, and they advanced in technology, creating wondrous machines and civilizations, tall glass cities that sparkled in the sun, with intricate roads and contraptions that flew.

But this utopia did not survive, for some of the gods despised the humans. Who could blame them? They were a weaker, more selfish, and chaotic species. With the growth of civilizations the humans had started to fight amongst themselves for territories and riches. Several humans would pray for riches at the expense of others and other humans would rather steal than pray or work for riches.

Three gods rose against the humans. The god of chaos, Lucien, the goddess of weoponry, Mael, and the god of Deceit, Aivel. They knew that they could help the humans rise against each other, and the humans would wipe themselves out.

So the goddess Mael, hand in hand with Aivel, visited the darkest humans of all, and whispered to them of a world where they could be supreme, leaders, transcended almost unto godliness. All they had to do was fight other humans for it.

Mael gifted them with weapons. Guns, Knives, Machetes, and the bombs. And just as they had expected, the humans rose against one another, and civilizations wiped out one another gradually, victors holding their fellow humans captive, as slaves and servants.

The gods were saddened by what the humans were doing, and despite the efforts of the tribunal of the gods of peace, the humans had given themselves over into darkness.

Angered, Gaia faced her brothers Lucien and Aivel, and her sister Mael. Why had they done this to her children?

Your weak children? Who don't hesitate to turn to darkness with a little push from us?? They are an abomination, Gaia, and you are the greatest abomination of all, for bringing them into existence. They had said.

I will not let you get away with this, Gaia had declared.

Then perhaps, you, mother of abominations, must be removed from existence as well, they had replied, and they rose up against Gaia, and killed her.

That was the first murder of a god.

With the killing of their sister, the three absorbed her energy and gained her strength and power. And thus, they gained the knowledge of what the murder of a god could bring them.

Why then, should they not take it upon themselves to rid the land of every God who had wasted his or her gifts on these puny creatures, and transcend beyond the level of any other god, and rule over everything?

The crusade begun.

They moved among their brothers and sisters, striking them down and consuming their power, even as the humans continued to kill and enslave one another. And transcend, the Three did. And they killed and killed and killed until the last two gods remained. The youngest gods, Sheil, god of manipulation, son of Lucien, and Dilla, goddess of restoration.

Dilla was young, and had not come into her full power yet. The Three knew that should she come into her full power, she would possess the power her mother, goddess of time, and her father, god of bounty, had. She would possess the power to reverse everything that they had done, if not even go back in time to stop the killing of the gods and goddesses.

Dilla was the ultimate price. Should she be absorbed, the Three would become true Gods. There was only one problem. Dilla and Sheil were in love, and Sheil would never stop protecting his one true love, even from his own father. Through his power, he manipulated reality, transforming Dilla into a human girl before the eyes of god and man alike, and hid her away.

Mael and Aivel knew that the only way to get to Dilla was to capture Sheil and kill him. By absorbing Sheil, they would obtain his knowledge, and his power, and they would find Dilla, and end their mission. But Lucien would never allow them kill his son. Lucien had to go.

Aivel, with is deceit, lured Lucien into a cave, and Mael, crafting the most powerful weapon she had ever made, struck him down. Thus, Mael obtained every power that Lucien had and had absorbed as well.

Aivel saw that Mael had become more powerful than himself, and might rise up against him eventually, and so picked up the weapon Mael had crafted, and when her back was turned, struck her down.

This was the birth of the most powerful being in the universe, The One. Within him, he held the power of all of his siblings, and rule, he did.

The One is our only god, and within him is every power in the world. Well, almost.

I was born into the age of The One, where everybody worshipped him, and did his biding. To the strongest and most decietful of humans, he gifted everything. The world was in shambles, and only evil could thrive. The One has gifted some with almost godlike strength, and those ones are his soldiers. They prawl around, searching for Sheil and Dilla.

Some of us, however, believe that the world could be better. The world could go back to a semblance of what it used to be, if only Dilla can be protected until she is fully grown. Thus, the academy was founded.
