　「成功したいのなら普通以上のことをやれ」とでも訳せるのかな。私は塾講師だから

「どうすれば学力アップができますか？」

　と、毎日のように聞かれる。自分の経験から言っても、優秀な生徒のやっていることを見ても特別な方法など無い。

　使っている問題集は数学ならチャート、英語なら過去問で他の生徒と何ら変わらない。ただ、勉強に向かう態度が違うだけ。たとえば、余弦定理を使って解く数学の問題があったら

「余弦定理の証明方法は何だっけ？」

　と、基本にもどる。たとえ解けても、

「もっと上手な解き方は無いかな？」

　と模範解答や別の問題集の解答も参考にする。

　落ちる生徒は、ただ解答を見たり授業を聞いたりしてやった気になるだけ。合格する生徒は、１周だけでは気が済まず

「制限時間内に解けるか試してみよう」

　と、２周してみる。落ちる生徒は

「チャートはマスターした」

　と、１周しただけで満足してしまう。

　その結果、平均的な生徒と“天才”と呼ばれる生徒の間には合格する大学のランクが天と地の差がつく。

I guess it could be translated as, "If you want to be successful, do more than the ordinary." I'm a tutoring teacher.

How can I improve my academic performance?"

　I am asked this question every day. Speaking from my own experience, there is no special way to do what the best students do.



　The problem books they use are no different from those of other students: charts for math, past problems for English, and so on. They just have a different attitude toward studying. For example, if there is a math problem to be solved using the cosine theorem

I go back to the basics: "What is the proof of the cosine theorem?

　and go back to the basics. Even if I can solve the problem, I will say to myself.

"Is there a better way to solve this problem?"

　and consult model solutions or solutions in other problem books.


　Students who fail just look at the answers or listen to the lesson and feel like they have done it. Students who pass the test are not satisfied with just one round of the test.

"Let's see if I can solve it within the time limit.

　and try to solve it in the time limit. Students who fail

"I've mastered the charts.

　and are satisfied with just one round.


　As a result, there is a world of difference between the average student and the "genius" student in terms of the rank of the university he or she passes.
