　The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

   旧帝や国立大学医学部に合格するのは上位２％程度。そんな少数派をめざしているのに、学校の宿題だけしかやらない子がいる。宿題なんて全員がやることが前提です。あるいは、

「友達が知名度が高い塾に行くから自分も行く」

　という子がいる。知名度が高い塾というのは多くの子が通っているという意味です。

　他の生徒と同じことをやりながら、他の生徒よりはるか上を行きたい。

　これは不可能です。もちろん、成功した人の勉強方法を調べて参考にするのは悪くない。しかし、多くの生徒は参考書や塾の評論家のようになってしまう。つまり、自分の学力を決定づけるのは特定の参考書や特定の塾だと信じてしまう。

　自分の学力が伸び悩んでいる場合、外部に原因があるのではありません。旧帝や国立大学医学部に合格していく生徒は特殊な問題集や特殊な予備校に通っているわけないじゃないですか。

 　Only about the top 2% of students are accepted into the old imperial or national university medical schools. Although we are aiming for such a minority, there are students who only do their homework at school. Homework is supposed to be done by everyone..

　Some students say, "My friends go to a well-known cram school, so I'll go there too.”  A well-known school means that many students go there.

　They want to do the same things as other students, but go far above the rest.

　This is impossible. Of course, it is not bad to study and refer to the study methods of successful people. However, many students become like critics of reference books and cram schools. In other words, they believe that it is a particular reference book or a particular cram school that determines their academic ability.

　If one's academic performance is not improving, the cause is not external. Students who pass the medical schools of old imperial or national universities don't go to special problem books or special preparatory schools, do they?
