🌟 Opposition to Ravi Tagore ✒

It is said that Rabindranath Tagore opposed the establishment of Dhaka University.

For this reason, it may seem outwardly that Rabindranath Tagore at that time prevented the people of East Bengal from being educated.

But at that time there were some real reasons for opposition to Rabindranath Tagore. At that time the condition of East Bengal was not as good as it is now. Rather the communication system was extremely miserable.

But there were many educational institutions in that proportion. There were many other educational institutions including Jagannath College, Anandamohan College, which were suitable for the miserable communication system of that time.

At present there are Bangladesh Agricultural University, Anandamohan College, Nazrul University, Mymensingh Medical College etc. in Mymensingh. Now if anyone says, to establish another educational institution like Dhaka University in Mymensingh city. So will another educational institution like Dhaka University be established in Mymensingh city? For good reason, almost everyone will disagree. The situation is similar to the situation in East Bengal at that time, the situation was similar to the establishment of Dhaka University. Therefore, in the context of that time, the opposition of Ravi Tagore was not at all unreasonable.

Nevertheless, when the University of Dhaka was being established on the initiative of Nawab Sir Salimullah, the opposition of Rabindranath Tagore was not entirely unrealistic.

Moreover, Nawab Sir Salimullah may have had personal reasons for establishing Dhaka University. For example, he may have been particularly keen on establishing the University of Dhaka to separate East Bengal from the Calcutta-centric education system. The way he founded the Muslim League to separate Muslims from Congress politics. Perhaps realizing this, Ravi Tagore opposed the establishment of Dhaka University by Nawab Sir Salimullah.

And for this reason Rabindranath Tagore should never be called a hater of East Bengal. Because he composed his time-honored song, "My Golden Bangla, I Love You", fascinated by the beauty and natural environment of East Bengal and resides in this East Bengal. He composed the songs in East Bengal. And most of the short stories he has written are based on various events in East Bengal. And he has composed many poems and songs based in East Bengal.

After the establishment of Dhaka University, Ravi Tagore traveled to East Bengal. If he had been a hater of East Bengal, he would never have done so.

Therefore, it is absolutely unreasonable to oppose Ravi Tagore by issuing opposition to the establishment of Dhaka University by Ravi Tagore.

🌟 Dhaka University and Bangladesh ✒

If Dhaka University had not been established, would Bangladesh have lagged behind? Never. Because not all the learned, talented, wise and great personalities of Bangladesh who were established were students of Dhaka University.

There are many who have established themselves by studying at the National University. Even those who were well-established in politics were not all students of Dhaka University.

So if Ravi Tagore had opposed it at that time, then in the present context it was not at all malicious.

Because even though they have not studied at Dhaka University, there are many people who are more talented and established than the students of Dhaka University.

🌟 Dhaka University and other Universities and Colleges ✒

Many people say that the corridor of Dhaka University is equal to other universities and colleges.

Those who say such things must be talking nonsense. If other universities and colleges are equal to a corridor of Dhaka University then what is the need of other universities and colleges?

And if those who apply their own nonsense on those misconceptions and words, will they be able to challenge other university and college students on any issue.

If they do not agree with the challenge of comparing other colleges and universities with the corridors of Dhaka University, then they should refrain from such nonsense.

Ravi Tagore opposed the founding of Dhaka University in view of the situation at that time. But what is the contribution of Dhaka University to the development of Bangladesh? And what is the contribution of colleges and universities other than Dhaka University in the development of Bangladesh? That requires a comparative study. Only then will it be understood how reasonable it is for Ravi Tagore to oppose the establishment of Dhaka University.

🌟 Importance of every Educational Institution ✒

Basically, every educational institution has more or less contribution in education and national development. But it can never be justified to degrade any other educational institution in order to establish an excessive reputation of a university.

Therefore, in order to establish the reputation of Dhaka University, it can never be acceptable for Ravi Tagore to make opposition an issue and humiliate other educational institutions.

🌟 রবি ঠাকুরের বিরোধিতা ✒

এটা বলা হয় যে, ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার সময় রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর বিরোধিতা করেছিলেন।

এই কারণে বাহ্যিকভাবে মনে হতে পারে যে, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর সেই সময় পূর্ব বাংলার মানুষকে শিক্ষিত হতে বাধা প্রদান করেছিলেন।

তবে সেই সময়ে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের বিরোধিতার বাস্তবসম্মত কিছু কারণ ছিল। সেই সময় পূর্ব বাংলার অবস্থা এখনের মতো উন্নত ছিল না। বরং যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা অত্যন্ত শোচনীয় ছিল।

কিন্তু সেই অনুপাতে শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান অনেক ছিল। জগন্নাথ কলেজ, আনন্দমোহন কলেজসহ আরো অনেক শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান ছিল, যেগুলো সেই সময়ের শোচনীয় যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থায় যথাযথ ছিল।

যেমন বর্তমানে ময়মনসিংহে আছে বাংলাদেশ কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, আনন্দমোহন কলেজ, নজরুল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল কলেজ প্রভৃতি। এখন কেউ যদি বলেন, ময়মনসিংহ শহরে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মতো আরেকটি শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান প্রতিষ্ঠা করতে। তাহলে কি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মতো আরেকটা শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান ময়মনসিংহ শহরে প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হবে? যুক্তিসঙ্গত কারণেই প্রায় সকলেই তাতে অসম্মতি জ্ঞাপন করবেন। এই পরিস্থিতিটা যে রকম, সেই সময়ে পূর্ব বাংলার পরিস্থিতিতে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার পরিস্থিতিটাও ছিল তেমন। তাই সেই সময়ের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে রবি ঠাকুরের বিরোধিতা একেবারেই অযৌক্তিক ছিল না।

তা সত্ত্বেও নবাব স্যার সলিমুল্লাহর উদ্যোগে যখন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠিত হচ্ছিল তখন রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের বিরোধিতা একেবারে অবাস্তব ছিল না।

তাছাড়া ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠায় নবাব স্যার সলিমুল্লাহর ব্যক্তিগত কারণও থাকতে পারে। যেমন তিনি হয়তো কলকাতা কেন্দ্রিক শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থা থেকে পূর্ব বাংলাকে আলাদা করতে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠা করার জন্য বিশেষভাবে উদ্যোগী হয়েছিলেন। যেভাবে তিনি কংগ্রেসের রাজনীতি থেকে মুসলমানদেরকে আলাদা করার জন্য মুসলিম লীগ প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিলেন। হয়তো রবি ঠাকুর এই বিষয়টা উপলব্ধি করেই নবাব স্যার সলিমুল্লাহ কর্তৃক ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার বিরোধিতা করেছিলেন।

আর এই কারণে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরকে পূর্ববাংলার বিদ্বেষী কখনই বলা উচিত হবে না। কেননা তিনির কালজয়ী গান,"আমার সোনার বাংলা, আমি তোমায় ভালোবাসি" রচনা করেছিলেন পূর্ব বাংলার সৌন্দর্য ও প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশে মুগ্ধ হয়ে এই পূর্ববাংলায় অবস্থান করে।এবং তিনি যতগুলো ছোট গল্প রচনা করেছেন সেগুলোর বেশিরভাগই রচনা করেছেন এই পূর্ব বাংলার বিভিন্ন ঘটনার ভিত্তিতে।এবং অনেক কবিতা ও গান তিনি পূর্ব বাংলায় অবস্থান করে রচনা করেছিলেন।

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠিত হওয়ার পর রবি ঠাকুর পূর্ববাংলা ভ্রমণ করেছিলেন। তিনি যদি পূর্ব বাংলার বিদ্বেষী হতেন তাহলে কখনই তিনি ওই রকম করতেন না।

তাই রবি ঠাকুর কর্তৃক ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার বিরোধিতাকে ইস্যু করে রবি ঠাকুরের বিরোধিতা করা একেবারেই অযৌক্তিক ব্যাপার।

🌟 ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও বাংলাদেশ ✒

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় যদি প্রতিষ্ঠিত না হতো তাহলে কি বাংলাদেশ পিছিয়ে পড়তো? কখনই না। কেননা বাংলাদেশের যত জ্ঞানী,গুণী,মনীষী ও মহান ব্যাক্তিগন প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছেন তিনিরা সকলেই ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী ছিলেন না।

অনেকেই আছেন যিনিরা জাতীয় বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে পড়াশোনা করে আত্মপ্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছেন। এমনকি রাজনীতিতে যারা সুপ্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছেন তিনিরা সকলেই ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্র ছিলেন না।

তাই রবি ঠাকুর যদি সেই সময়ে বিরোধিতা করেই থাকেন তাহলে বর্তমানের প্রেক্ষিতেও সেটা একেবারেই বিদ্বেষপূর্ণ ছিল না।

কেননা ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে না পড়েও অনেক ব্যক্তি আছেন যিনিরা ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রদের চেয়েও বেশি মেধাবী ও প্রতিষ্ঠিত।

🌟 ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং অন্যান্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও কলেজ ✒

অনেকেই বলেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একটা করিডোর অর্থাৎ বারান্দা অন্যান্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও কলেজের সমান।

যারা এই ধরনের কথা বলে ওরা নিশ্চয়ই ফালতু কথা বলে। যদি অন্যান্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও কলেজ ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একটা বারান্দার সমান হয় তাহলে অন্যান্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও কলেজের দরকার কী?

আর যদি ওই ভ্রান্ত ধারণা ও কথার উপরে যারা নিজেদের ফালতু যুক্তি প্রয়োগ করেন তিনিরা কি পারবেন কোন বিষয়ে অন্যান্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ও কলেজের শিক্ষার্থীদের সঙ্গে চ্যালেঞ্জ করতে।

যদি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের করিডোরের সঙ্গে অন্যান্য কলেজ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের তুলনার চ্যালেঞ্জে রাজি না হন তাহলে তিনিদের উচিত ওই ধরনের ফালতু কথা থেকে নিজেদেরকে বিরত রাখা।

রবি ঠাকুর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রতিষ্ঠাতার বিরোধিতা করেছিলেন সেই সময়ের অবস্থার প্রেক্ষিতে। কিন্তু বর্তমানে ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কতটুকু অবদান আছে বাংলাদেশের উন্নয়নে? আর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ছাড়া অন্যান্য কলেজ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়গুলোর কতটুকু অবদান আছে বাংলাদেশের উন্নয়নে? সেটার একটা তুলনামূলক গবেষণা দরকার। তাহলেই বোঝা যাবে রবি ঠাকুর কর্তৃক ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রতিষ্ঠার ব্যাপারে বিরোধিতা করা কতটুকু যুক্তিসঙ্গত।

🌟 প্রত্যেক শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের গুরুত্ব ✒

মূলত শিক্ষা ও জাতীয় উন্নয়নে প্রত্যেকটা শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানেরই কমবেশি অবদান আছে। কিন্তু কোন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মাত্রাতিরিক্ত সুনাম প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য অন্য কোন শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানকে হেয় করা কখনই যুক্তিসঙ্গত হতে পারে না।

তাই ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সুনাম প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য রবি ঠাকুর কর্তৃক বিরোধিতাকে ইস্যু বানানো এবং অন্যান্য শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানকে হেয় করা কখনই গ্রহণযোগ্য হতে পারে না।
