The Executive Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Odunayo Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-SAN has said that workers must therefore continue to place premium on their individual health as he believes that health is wealth. He said just as prevention is always cheaper and better than cure, the workers just have to care for their health. The Governor who was represented by Mr Wale Akinterinwa - Commissioner for finance in the state in this year workers day celebration uses the occasion to enumerated some of the few achievement of the administration to the good people of the state since February 2017 when the government came on board. In his words "we invested heavily in our human capital development. I can assert with all sense of responsibility that our career officers ranked among the best train any where in Nigeria. The fact speaks for themselves, inspit of the dounting economic challenges, a good numbers of our workers has benefited from both overseas and local courses and we assure you that this will be a continuous excerce. Meanwhile, in our continue quest to reposition and strengthening the services for positive and progressive service delivery to the people of Ondo State. About 4279 personnel had been recruited into various critical sectors of the public service from 2017 to date".

In another development, the Governor said that over 3532 elegible workers of different categories have been slated for promotion this year 2022. He however, admonished the workers to key in into the REDEEMED programmes policy of the state which is meant for the development of the economy of the sunshine state. The Governor charged all the public servants in the state to adopt a new attitude toward the business of governance by showing high sense of productiveness and creativity in carrying out their duties. He also urged the workers to embrace digitalisation of work process, artificial intelligence, critical thinking, continuity planning and personal safety and health which are now Paramount at work place globally.

Meanwhile, the Governor uses the occasion of this year workers celebration to highlighted some of the ten achievement recorded in the last 62 months in term of the people's welfare in the state which included unprecedented infrastructure development in Ondo State, massive renovation of the primary health care centre in all the wards of the state, recruitment of 500 health personnel including the medical Doctors, sinking and resulcitation of over 2700 boreholes in our rural and urban areas through the "ka mo mi Aketi water scheme". Others included reconstruction and renovation of over seven hundred blocks of classroom via SUBEB in the 18 local government area of Ondo State, recruitment of over 500 graduates into the state internal revenue service, establishment of western Nigeria Security Network - Amotekun Corps responsible for curbing insecurity in the region and especially in Ondo State and host of others.


The Governor also, used the forum to expressed his gratitude by acknowledging the unprecedented support of the state labour movement through the JNC to the effort of the state government for providing Security of life and property through the Amotekun Corps on behalf of the Government and good people Ondo State. He thanked the entire work force of our sunshine state for the donation of 30 Motorcycles to the state Security outfit to assist in the task of securing our people.He also called on all others groups and individual as well as the Diaspora to emulate this rear support in the interest of our people. The event was well attended by dignitaries and others top Government functionaries.
