Russia's Defense Ministry claimed on Tuesday that at least one person was killed when cruise missiles fired by Ukraine overnight damaged a sizable Russian landing vessel in Crimea.
The ministry reported that plane-launched guided missiles struck the landing ship, named Novocherkassk, at a base in the city of Feodosia. Video uploaded online shows the attack's aftermath, which included a massive fireball that shot high into the night sky. It was also possible to witness further explosions going off and fires burning.
According to the RIA news agency, four other people were hurt in addition to the deceased, Reuters reported.
The ministry also stated that during the attack, which happened at roughly 2:50 a.m. local time, two Ukrainian fighter jets were destroyed by anti-aircraft fire.
