"Can Article 9 Protect Japan?" Concerns erupt over Russian invasion; Communists feel threatened

In the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a growing number of people on social networking sites (SNS) and elsewhere have voiced concern over whether Article 9 of the Constitution can protect Japan. This is in response to the harsh reality of the international community, where dialogue is unacceptable, and the sense of crisis about having "renunciation of war and denial of the right of war and belligerency" as the supreme law. The constitutional protection forces are becoming increasingly vigilant, and the Communist Party, which is calling for the "prevention of constitutional revision of Article 9" in the run-up to the summer election for the upper house of the Diet, is eager to put out the fire.

It seems that the Japanese people, who had been in a state of peace, have woken up to the obvious use of force. I think this is a good thing. The preamble of the Constitution of Japan says

The people of Japan, desiring perpetual peace, and deeply conscious of the noble ideals which govern the relations of mankind with one another, have determined to preserve our security and survival, trusting in the justice and faith of the peace-loving peoples of the world.

Now, can we trust Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jong-un as peace-loving people with justice and faith? I think we already know the answer to that question, don't we? As reported on TV, missiles are flying over the heads of unrelated children and tanks are trampling them down.

If we don't revise our constitution and build up our armed forces as soon as possible, Japan will fall into the same trap as Ukraine. China asked and also made a comment that Sinai Noni "Ukraine and Taiwan are not the same. Isn't that motivating? The Ukrainian people must be feeling abandoned by the US and European democracies. The Ukrainian president laments his country's isolation.

China, Russia, and North Korea are anti-Japanese countries with nuclear weapons. South Korea is known to be the most anti-Japanese nation in the world. Surrounded by these dictatorships, we can't do anything even if a conflict occurs if we are unarmed.

I am neither a right-winger nor a left-winger, but as an adult, I want to protect my family and the younger generation. I am a Japanese citizen who thinks so.
