In prior interviews, the South African musician talked about his issues with alcohol, how he sought counseling, and how he wished to be welcomed.

His family confirmed today that the musician passed away unexpectedly.

Riky Rick, whose true name is Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, claimed he had sought counseling to assist him handle his father's death during the last few years.

He indicated he was on a "destructive road" due to "chronic depression" in September 2020.

"I lost my father when I needed it the most," he explained. I misplaced him at a crucial period in my life.

"Many individuals fail to recognize that the voice of a father can never be replaced.

"He hadn't just died, it wasn't like that.

"It wasn't like he died suddenly; it had been 18 years of living with your father for a year and then returning to your mother." I enjoy being with my mother, but I can't see living with him for a year... "A child should never be left alone with his parents."

Riky described himself as being on an emotional rollercoaster as he tried to balance loss, heartbreak, and fury.

"When dad died, I was so angry, so upset," he added. 'Why my life?' I was enraged.

"Why does my life have to turn to s**t when all the other kids at school have both parents going to see them at football games, basketball games, and bringing them picnic sacks?"

"I didn't get it, and I didn't see you after that." "I was furious, furious, furious."

"After losing a loved one, we sometimes go to a dark place," he said on Instagram upon sharing the video.

"I've been there and made it back to share some of my experience with anyone who can connect." Not everyone, to be sure. Anyone."

He had previously discussed his alcoholism and sought counseling to assist him cope with the hardships he was encountering.

In a 2015 interview, Riky stated that he was the type of guy that displayed signs of personal distress.

"Even though I was always the quiet kid at school, I always had to be...always had to act up in some manner to fit in," he explained.

"I was always attempting to fit in as a well-liked character."

Bianca Naidoo, his wife, leaves behind two children, his mother, and five siblings.

The reason of death for the 34-year-old has not been revealed.

The family issued the following statement on their behalf: "Riky 'Ricky' Makhado (34) died in the early hours of this morning (February 23rd) in Johannesburg. He was a son, husband, father, brother, and uncle.

"Riky Rick, as he was affectionately known around the world, was adored by his family, friends, and the whole entertainment business.

"He is well-known for his devotion to his family, friends, and community. Riky's role in nurturing and developing youthful musical talent has been widely documented and will be remembered for a long time."

His death follows a mysterious final tweet he sent at 3.20 a.m. on Wednesday morning, just hours before his death.
