Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They were Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California when they developed the search engine that eventually became Google. The company was officially incorporated on September 4, 1998. Larry Page served as the CEO of Google until 2001, when Eric Schmidt took over the role, and later, Sundar Pichai became the CEO in 2015. Sergey Brin played a key role in the early development of Google and served as the president of Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, until he stepped down in 2019.
