YouTube was founded by three former PayPal employees: Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. They created the platform in February 2005, and it quickly became one of the most popular video-sharing websites globally. In November 2006, Google acquired YouTube for US$1.65 billion in stock.
