Apple and Google are developing technology to help curb the spread of coronavirus. It uses smartphones on Android and iOS with Bluetooth enabled and will allow you to keep track of who is sick COVID-19 and you contacted.

Here's how it should work:

Two people communicated briefly with each other, for example, for about 10 minutes. Their smartphones automatically exchange anonymous identifiers, which change every 15 minutes.

If one of these two is later diagnosed with COVID-19, the health authorities pass its identifiers over the past 14 days to Apple and Google - of course, only with the consent of the patient.

The system compares identifiers, and all people who have contacted the patient are given an alert and information on how to behave when there is a risk of infection.

Something similar is being created simultaneously by specialists at the Massachusetts University of Technology.

The social interaction tracking feature will be introduced in mid-May with Android and iOS updates. Then the corresponding official applications will appear on Google Play and the AppStore. They should be compatible even with fairly old versions of systems, such as Android 6.0.

If a person receives a notification about contact with an infected person, no names will be contained there. The system is decentralized and identifiers will only be stored on user devices.

Specialists from the American Civil Liberties Union believe that any smartphone tracking to control the spread of COVID-19 could violate privacy. So participation in the program should be voluntary.
