Title: Great --but v critically needs updating/integrating with other authors

Review: This is a very important book, especially, maybe life or death, for those currently with cancer. It has a lot of very important information. There are a couple of related such books, but not many. It has a lot of good reviews. However, cancer is a life and death matter. For this to be a "great" book, it appears to very keenly need update in at least two indicative and critical areas.
1. It is an update of a prior 2003 book. While some of the text has been updated, for one, the references appear to be all the old references (i.e., pre 2000 --from the prior book). While this might seem a detail, it indicates the work may not have the latest information and also does not allow the reader --whose life may depend on it! --- to check sources of the latest research or to clarify or get more information on various findings.
2. An area in need of update or clarification, as it contradicts other such authors, but also as an example of point1, on p.152, it says if you have cancer, don't eat almonds, .. coconut... macademia nuts, pistachios, and .. walnuts (as they contain arachidonic acid). The other two big authors in this field (integrative nutrition medicine), Drs. William Li and Stephen Gundry, big name doctors, say strongly that eating such nuts is anti cancer.. and one of few things you can eat? Who is right? If research is unclear or contradictory -- can this be said so? Or, is it just a matter of the original book research was not updated? If one has cancer, does one want to be eating the wrong foods?
I wish these three authors would get together. Getting great individuals to work together is tough. Lifes might be saved.

Title: Great Book but missing key facts

Review: I give this five stars, but it has some short comings.

For whatever reason, Blaylock ignores the substantial evidence that high doses of Vitamin C in IV form has been shown to be a very effective treatment for cancer. The dose rates he prescribes are far too low and in the wrong form. Cancer patients should get 2x a week IV vitamin C injections or take liposomal vitamin C, 10 grams a day, daily.

See Hoffer/Linus Paulings book, 'Healing Cancer' where they give a statistically proven vitamin/supplement program that will increase survival time 500 %. Blaylock should be ashamed for missing this epic study as it was done by a 2X Nobel Prize Winner. I aslo highly suggest readers understand the science behind Blaylocks recommendation by reading Orthomolecular Medicine for Everyone by Dr. Abram Hoffer. Hoffer gives many, many natural treatment programs for diseases, including one for cancer in his book.

Blaylock needs to badly rewrite this book on Vitamin C doses and forms!! This is a major fail, imo, in light of recent and past scientific evidence. Blaylock may have been influenced by the Mayo Clinics highly rigged study on Vitamin C which Dr. Linus Pauling debunked.

He also fails to unearth the fact that 50k IU a day of Vitamin D3 was used in the 1920 to treat cancer until the patent was over turned. So the amount of Vitamin D3 he prescribes is very low. See Jeff Bowles recent book on Vitamin D3 in high doses.

Also recently high doses of Vitamin B1, in an oil soluable form is being used to treat cancer in Japan and other degenerative diseases, around 1-2 grams per day. Blaylocks doses rates are far too low, imo.

He also states incorrectly that lemons, will acidify your blood, they are an alkalizing agent.

His treatments for herbs aka Materia Medica is pretty rudimentary and I suggest William Cho's books by Springer Verlog on Materia Medica and consulting with an ND or Chiropractor on an evidenced based herbal program.

Also he leave out such potent anticancer herbs as Neem Leaf (now being made into a patented drug for cancer), Cannibis Oil (now in phase one trials in the UK for brain cancer, in a patented, synthetic form), and Sodium Dicholoroacetate, a near 'cure all' miracle treatment available in Canada, through Medicor, Toronto and the highly effective German Hyperthermia treatments. But the AMA would pull his license I suppose if he talked about those natural treatments for cancer that are not toxic and carcinogenic like rad/chemo is.

Still he gets so much 'right' if you're only going to recommend one book to a cancer patient this should be it, as its most up to date. Hoffer did most of his ground breaking work on nutrition, high doses of vitamins/minerals/amino acids and cancer during the 1950s and 1960s and 1970S. It's a shame that Blaylock does not promote Orthomolecular Medicine to his readers.

Title: My anti-Cancer Bible

Review: Having been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer December 28, 2010 I immediately started doing research on how and why I have cancer. My goal is to prevent a reccurence. I am almost done with chemo (one more round on 5/18/11), I bought this book b/c of the good reviews. Now I go to this book almost every day. I have even bought products and nutrients recommended in the book. I appreciate that Dr. Blaylock speaks his mind and is not afraid of the naysayers who have an opinion against natural cures/preventative measures for cancer.

I was stubborn about nutrition and cancer but this book totally changed my mind about what I was eating and how it may have affected my health. I immediately created a new grocery list and have changed my family's eating patterns to include more fruits and veggies based on the info in this book alone. I can honestly say it has changed my life. I do not even shop at the same grocery store. I do not even buy the same foods anymore. I've increased my food budget so I can include salads and vegetables in our meals each and every day. Eating is no longer about staving off hunger or satisfying taste buds. it's all about health now.

Natural Strategies looks at which foods have cancer fighting components, supplements which have been around since forever, right up under our noses that can increase our immune system to prevent cancer and others that protect our DNA and thus protect us from getting cancer and the doctor also recommends products that help with the severe fatigue that is all too common with cancer patients (which I recently bought through amazon). My doctor's office was not able to help me in the area of fatigue. Many doctors seem to think it is in our heads or that we are not eating.

Another great point in the book is that the author makes recommendations as to what supplements can help protect us from the toxicity of chemo and radiation which is right on time for me since I am finishing up with a chemo drug that is known to cause heart damage. After chemo I know my life/health will never be the same,but with Natural Strategies I feel that I have a fighting chance and to become a much healthier individual.

I highly recommend the book especially if you have disease in your family. I pass info on to my sister and she has also changed her way of eating. She doesn't have cancer but has made changes for preventative measures. Her husband has lost 11 pounds and his blood pressure is lower than it was. Hmph, so whomever said we are what we eat was correct.
