Review: I’m still in the process of using some of the recommendations but I have to say I’m feeling better already. I don’t like using prescription drugs so this book is helping me to understand a natural way to be healed which I believe is what God wants for me.

Review: I'd heard of the maker's diet several years ago but am not particularly religious at all and it just didn't resonate with me. As my symptoms became more debilitating I eventually tried the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I do competitive bodybuilding and so am VERY accustomed to strict year round dieting...but I still struggled with the Specific Carb Diet as it just seemed to exclude everything and anything that could possibly ever be triggering of symptoms. It took me several months after trying that diet, and being put on steroids and sleeping pills on top of high doses of anti-inflamatories, before I decided to give another go at healing myself outside of traditional medicine.

My current trainer at the time actually recommended the book in addition to his own plan for finding out what my trigger foods were. I didn't get the book for months, and we made small improvements such that I was off my medicine but having symptoms that were teetering on the verge of a major flare up. I got the book because I was desperate not to go back on medication for the rest of my life. I began reading it page for page but then started to flare up pretty seriously. So I skipped immediately to the specific dietary recommendations and those tailored to my diagnosis (severe ulcerative colitis) and just dove in with his recommendations. Now I don't know about anyone else, but this what happened for me:

Within days of incorporating a few foods and excluding a few others that he thought were most important...my symptoms abated. Within a week or so however, they worsened BIG TIME. Far worse than what I had been experiencing with my trainer. I knew how long I could experience my symptoms before they would become a medical emergency, so I waited it out. After 2-3 weeks of what felt like a major backslide, my symptoms nearly stopped. Nearly. But I know this takes time and it could be several years before they really go away...but for the first time I feel confident that I can actually manage this MYSELF...and that they will, eventually, stop altogether.

I don't use many supplements unless I really believe in them. I did NOT buy any of his garden of life products (such as the HSO's). What literally did the trick it seemed, along with following the guidelines in general...was that unprocessed/unrefined organic coconut oil. It was actually the item I put off buying at first because I just thought I could take it or leave it. But for me....it's the clincher. On 2 Tbsp's a day, my symptoms dramatically decreased after that flare up. It was when I doubled it to 4 Tbsp's a day that they damn near stopped. I don't know what all it's components are...or how it does whatever it does...and really, I don't care right now. I can function again without colitis dictating my work and social life. So don't feel like you have to necessarily buy any "crazy" stuff. Maybe I'd heal sooner if I invested in some of his products, but maybe not. Right now, his basic plan and recommendations are giving me exactly what I wanted: independence from medicine. Comfortable! independence.

Review: Some parts have too much medical terminology. But, lots of helpful lists of foods to eat for different medical conditions. Fairly easy to read. Interesting about Jordan's medical recovery and willingness to help others. Highly recommend for anyone suffering from medical conditions or want to feel better.

Review: This author, Jordan Rubin, tell you everything you need to know to rebuild your health. It's up to you to follow through. I gave up allot of the food I loved to regain my health and happiness, and in the process have so far lost over 40 lbs. Without a healthy body, you have nothing. This author speaks from his own experience, and his own journey to regain his health when nothing else worked. This worked for me as well.

Review: Years ago (like over 10 years) I received this book either for free or at a discount or as a recommendation at a health food store in Massachusetts. I had been seeing holistic doctors after western medicine alone wasn't helping me and I was advised to eat a strict diet and take additional supplements. I probably wouldn't have picked this book by myself but however I ended up with it, I'm grateful. It's a very interesting read and I learned so much in a short time. It can be overwhelming to a beginner in the "eating to heal yourself" world or to someone who isn't interested in learning about health, nutrition and illness but It's an incredible story and for me it was somewhat life changing. I've also read this author's other book called "The makers Diet". That book is also very good but it's less of a story and more about making changes in your eating habits and exercise and healthy living. The only issues I have with the author is how he often refers to the bible. I am not a religious person so this can be a bit off putting to me but I was able to push those parts aside and enjoy. I bought Patient Heal Thyself for my boyfriend's brother who is very religious and has a lot of health issues. He struggles with diet and exercise because he had never been taught in a way that makes sense to him. Since he enjoys religion and the bible so much, I thought this book would be something he could relate too.

Review: I have to say - a huge disappointment. Really had high hopes based on the reviews but those reviewers must not have read anything else ever printed out there on what to eat in terms of bettering your health and instilling some healing. NO DIFFERENT than anything else, don't eat processed foods, eat organic foods and supplement. I was hoping for more spiritual guidance I guess, some specific scriptures or protocol in praying for healing, etc. You don't even get brands of supplements so no use there. And the most upsetting of all, EVERY sickness, ailment or disease is to follow the EXACT SAME PROTOCOL. I'm actually half tempted to return this darn book. But I will donate it simply because there might be one person on the planet that hasn't already been given this same information and it could help them. Sorry Josh, a huge disappointment and miss for me.
