Title: One of the best instructional books on Colored Pencil out there!

Review: I can honestly say that I credit this book for most of the skills I acquired in color pencil drawing. Great for beginners and intermediate artists alike. I’ve had this book for two years, and I still refer to it often. It prompted me to buy more by the same author. She is an amazing artist and exceptional tutor. Check out her portraits book, too! Lots of great instruction. I highly recommend all of her books.

Review: I just received this newest book by Veronica Winters, The Colored Pencil Manual, and am absolutely thrilled with the contents. The author describes it as a book for beginners (which I am not) but in my opinion, the range of subjects and the comprehensive coverage of them, the step-by-step instructions and beautiful color references make this an excellent reference for both beginner and experienced colored pencil artists. I have other books by Winters, but this one is especially outstanding. I confess to buying every colored pencil book I can get my hands on and so far, this is my favorite. It's just a very high-quality book. This is my new CP bible! I highly recommend it.

Title: A General Overview

Review: The good thing about this book is that it is new. She has a relatively limited palette of Prismacolor pencils that she uses, although she goes over the other brands. Her own personal POV is different --- most artists suggest using oil-based pencils for the foundational level, and then wax-based on top of that (for burnishing,etc.). She does wax-based mostly and recommends oil-based on top for details. There isn't anything bad about the book, but there also isn't anything wonderful. I have an extensive library of books on colored pencil, this is just another. But if you don't have many books, and are looking for help I would suggest Ann Swan's book for botanicals or Alyona Nickelsen's Colored Pencil Painting Bible --- both books are fantastic and super helpful.

Title: Helpful information on how to work in colored pencil

Review: I have worked in colored pencil for a few years now , but don't have much time to draw . I have a full time job and a household . But I love working in colored pencil and this book is very helpful for beginners . It goes over most of the best brands of colored pencil , sort by sort : first the wax-Based , then the water soluble pencil , then wax pastels and drawing media : pencils combined with water paints as background . It also covers the best sort of paper to use and all the techniques you need to get started . I like specially the color charts at the back , those are very useful .

This book is a complete lesson in drawing and color theory! I didn’t go to art school. Now I don’t have to. You will learn years of knowledge. Drawing is explained well, there are many illustrations and all the little tricks that artists try to explain to the rest of us, is in here! I’m going to find a cozy seat and go to class. BUY THIS BOOK!!!

Title: WONDERFUL BOOK

Review: This one star is for kindles actions with this WONDERFUL BOOK. 5 stars to the author, Veronica Winters.

When I downloaded this book kindle noted there were errors or missing text or pictures, but that the publisher had already been notified. I bought the book anyway assuming that kindle would resolve the issue soon. I checked several days ago for an update and nothing. I wrote the author as I knew her to be responsive. Long story short, she knew nothing of this nor did her publisher! Below is a quote from her response.:

"We went through the e-book and Kindle versions of chapter 5 and were unable to find missing text and images, screenshots of both attached. We resent files to Amazon in case there was an issue with the Amazon version. Amazon said there were no issues reported to them so you may want to tell the people who bought the Kindle version to report the issue to Amazon and have them request an updated version be sent to them"

1. Someone at Kindle/Amazon needs to figure this out and quickly.
2. Send the publisher, Veronica Winters and myself updated copies of this book.

Ive been with Amazon and kindle from their beginning so I'm VERY disappointed with my experience with Amazon kindle this time
