Title: Another good rocker book

Review: I tend to navigate to books from rock stars as I have always found that most of these musicians could also have been novelists. Keith Richards, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and Rod Stewart all come to mind. Incredible autobiographies that chronicle their upbringing in often difficult circumstances and their subsequent rise to fame
I like a lot of Bono and U2’s songs but have never been a big fan. And yet, I love the book he has written as it fits in well with the aforementioned.
Bono employs a different idea in the construction of this book, using a song title as a theme for each chapter and then filling in the blanks with deep insights, anecdotes and stories of his and/or the band’s past
You don’t have to be a U2 fan to enjoy the book and his style, as there are numerous stories of his own personal battles and the initiatives he has undertaken. Bono writes in a personal style that naturally leads to an empathetic response from the reader
It’s not a short book, but the chapters fly by.
I highly recommend the book to anyone who like rock or wishes to read about a man who overcame obstacles to succeed in life. And moreover, a man who is sensitive to the needs of many in this world and who, with his wife, have put a great deal of time and effort in to help with numerous causes

Title: GREATLY SURPRISED

Review: I am not a "celebrity worshipper", having known many, met many, admire a few but more for their work as many I don't know them personally. In reading "Surrender", without sounding mushy, truth is Bono's sparked an appreciation deep into my artist's soul. I am convinced creative souls (I personally believe we all are in some capacity🕊️) will resonate with the book as well.
Bono's gift for writing is so engaging I have a hard time focusing on my own creative business & daily life and my reading time has become very limited but when I am truly captivated by a book such as "Surrender" I carve some time. It's like a teenage crush, ya can't wait to spend time together again, and soon! 💕
My youngest brother was into U2 from the very beginning; he exposed me to their music and when they became the huge act they are now, I remember him saying "hope the quality of their music never changes"... I never grew into the Super fan that he is but I must say reading the book I have a completely different perspective and a whole new appreciation for their work and them as individuals. It's one thing to read a review or article in a music magazine or such but when you read first person accounts it colors the perspective tremendously and I have been recommending "Surrender" for fans especially but even just as a great read.

Title: A great read, even if you're not a hardcore fan.

Review: About ten years ago, I read a couple of books by Frank McCourt, who is also Irish, and thought, "Wouldn't it be great if Bono wrote a book?" And now he has!
This is an enjoyable read and Bono seems to finally be himself. His image as a celebrity and as portrayed by the media are completely different from what he's really like when he can just talk about stuff in a straightforward way. The story of his early life and how U2 started is so improbable that it makes an amazing story, even if you're not a U2 fan.
The only parts that I would classify as slightly uninteresting are the chapters about his activism. I remember what it was like being a new U2 fan in the early 2000s, seeing Bono on news channels talking about Africa all the time instead of music. I now understand why he did all of that, and it's amazing what he accomplished, but it's still very dry, especially since I lived that era in real time.

Review: Enjoyable, interesting, fun and all over it feel honest. After reading this book, I ranked U2 music and Bono the singer/composer himself higher than before. Much higher, considering that there weren’t too high. Completely unexpected for me is his side of being a helper to others. How much time, effort and humility he seemed to give to every project. At last, something that I think speaks very well of Bono is his acknowledgement to people that could be on the other side of the field and despite of that fact they find ways to agree. To an average reader (non english speaker) this is a great book.

Title: More love than ever

Review: I have to admit, I didn't start out a huge U2 fan. In the 80's I was still grooving hard to Kiss, The Beatles, The Stones, Janis Joplin, The Airplane, Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, Deep Puple...etc. More of a "metal head" than anything. I loved the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Pretenders. I couldn't escape the U2 machine as they were everywhere. I liked them well enough, but agar they were not my faves. I finally decided to see them live the Zoo Tv tour. It waz life changing. Bono used to come across to me as "arrogant and self serving. Nothing could be further than then that. Bono is a a visionary. He talks the talk AND walks the walk. He is a beautiful and giving soul. He is so deep. He is funny, he is loving and above all he literally lives to make the world a better place. I loved this book. If anyone is ever " confused" about U2's place in the world of rock and roll, remember this one very important thing, U2 has NEVER had a public break-up. They are one. They are equals, they know every one of them is an irreplaceable part of a beautiful musical machine. Please read this Book. Bono, Edge, Larry, and Adam are truly a BAND. They are family. They love life, they love people, they Love their families and they love their fans. My respect has grown a 100 times more after reading this. There is much that can be taken but for U2 "They could not take your PRIDE, in the name of love" God bless you Bono, you are a true inspiration

Title: Fantastic Book

Review: Very personal and a little surreal at times, it allows you view the writer as a real person, flaws and all. Bono gets more in-depth with his life then I ever would have expected. Every blemish is on display, and if anything, it makes me an even bigger fan. The book makes me feel like I know him. It doesn't hurt that I have the audio version, read by Bono. This is a must have for anyone, but especially U2 fans.
