Review: Such a rich, inspiring story of Faith, Family and God's Faithfulness through Christ. I have fallen in love with this family, and I can not wait to read the next book in this series. This coming to age story of faith has truly been inspirational for me!

Review: This book totally immerses the reader into the lives of people experiencing life in Jerusalem at the time of Christ. I was especially moved by the scene at the cross. I have read many authors that wrote about it but this was different for me. It’s hard to explain why but I FELT it.
The story is fast paced which I also appreciate. Never a dull moment! I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure.

Review: The main character is not your typical heroine let alone humble, submissive, and obedient daughter of biblical times. It was quite fun to read about a girl with such strong beliefs and emotions that seemed incapable of restraining herself from impulsively acting on them. It was refreshing and scary quite honestly. I feared she would be stoned or disowned at times but was relieved to see that she was the product of being loved unconditionally by her father and the closeness of her entire clan.

The story and characters are so very well developed. I loved watching the growth of the younger characters and then their being able to see the actual struggles of the adults as they were able to see them more clearly as they grew closer to adulthood themselves.

I loved the character of Asa as a son and student of the law under his father, a levitical priest, combined with an understanding of the scripture in its entirety, not just the law. His tenderness and tenacity for God's truth revealed the source of his understanding of God as a loving, forgiving, and merciful God in addition to being a just God.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and believe you will too.

Review: I always admire authors who can create an original Biblical story. That is NOT easy to do by any means. Especially when you're writing from multiple points of view. I really wrestled with whether to give this 3 or 4 stars for a few reasons. I finally decided on a 4 star review because I want the auth and publishing house to know that I'd definitely read the next work if one were released.

*This ended way too soon. I needed 1 more chapter and an epilogue. When I was done reading, I had that loose ends feeling. I wanted at least a peek of Asa & Shamira's next phase. I want to see what's next for almost every family member! Please include an update in the next work of this series.
*There was a missed opportunity for a deeper dive into Asa's family, esp his mother and how his father's behavior effected EVERYONE. Also, as the parent of a special needs child, there's a lot to unpack with Chava and Tamir. In 2011, I literally had to deal with a Pastor who said I was cursed because my son is Autistic.
*The introspection got to be a bit lengthy and repetitive at times. At one point, I think I read what felt like 10 pages and there was no new info, or progression in the story.
*I feel like the author has a ministry in her pen, but held back for fear of being too preachy or churchy. If you read this Ms. Mourik, don't hold back! There may be a few who don't like it, but there also may be even one person who finds freedom in the Spirit moving through you, so let Him loose!

Review: Jerusalem's Daughter is a standout debut novel! Jenna Van Mourik clearly poured her heart into this story, and it shows on every page! From her meticulous research and smooth incorporation of Scripture, to her thoughtfully crafted cast of characters and captivating plot, Van Mourik shows readers that she is a Biblical fiction author they'll want to keep their eyes on. I know I'm already waiting with bated breath for a sequel to this fantastic story!

Set in the city of Jerusalem during the final days of Jesus' earthly ministry, Jerusalem's Daughter tells the story of Shamira, a young woman whose great passion and deep love for her family lead her on a journey in search of a miracle, a journey that will change not only her life, but the lives of all those she loves. Though Shamira and her family are fictional characters, Van Mourik did an excellent job of weaving their story into the Scriptural events of the Passion Week. It was so interesting to see the events of Jesus' Passion, Death, and Resurrection through the eyes of an ordinary girl who got to be a witness to it all. While this story could be read at any time of year, it does hold a particular poignancy when read during Holy Week and throughout the Easter season.

If you're looking for a story with fun and colorful characters who become like friends, moments that warm your heart, and a reminder of the power of faith and truth in God's plans, look no further than Jerusalem's Daughter! You won't regret checking it out!
