Review: .... I have to agree with at least one other review here about Cody's & Bailey's relationship being dragged out FAR too long! Karen, I have loved all the books about the Baxters and Flannigans. I have laughed and cried as I've read their stories and sometimes have to remind myself that they ARE fictional characters after all and I really can't pray for them! I LOVE how you have intertwined scripture in these stories in relation to what is going on in the Baxters' and Flanigans' lives! I love how real you've made their lives, and depicted trials and hardships along with the joys and good times. Because that is truly what life is! Many many times, those scriptures and stories have truly ministered to me, and not just in the Baxter and Flannigan stories, but in your other books, as well. But this "saga" of Cody and Bailey, in my opinion, is just going in the wrong direction. They are 2 Christian young people who obviously love each other very much, so why continue to write about pain and hurt and creating more mis-communications that are keeping them apart?! And why bring in other people (Cheyenne and Brandon) who even though they may care about them they are not people with whom Baily and Cody will love in the way they love each other. From the time that you wrote about Bailey praying over her future husband and at that same moment Cody being saved from certain death in Iraq, I have believed that you have set it up for Cody and Bailey to be together someday. And why not?! What a great story can be told about 2 people BEING together in a God-designed courtship relationship, showing the ups and downs of 2 Christian young people who love each other very much in a world where morals and values are about as far from biblical truth as can be, and how these 2 young people grow together and remain pure all while pursuing God's plan for their lives and yet growing TOGETHER! They have already been through so much, I say enough already of conflict after conflict keeping them apart! That is such the "typical" storyline for romance novels. Not saying this book is only a romance novel, it certainly is NOT! But it sort-of feels like it when yet another conflict happens to keep Cody & Bailey apart! I think if the Bailey Flanigan series would get away from this predictable typical conflict ridden storyline, it would really make this series one of the best ever. A true 5-star rated series and MORE! I have 3 teen daughters, my oldest being 19, who also love your books and read them as avidly as I do. How great would it be for them to read a story where instead of reading about pain and conflict constantly keeping this young couple apart, and yes, this does happen in our world, but rather a book/series that shows a positive story about dating and courtship that follows the biblical model God has set up for us as Christians. I hope you will consider it.

With that said, there were many things about Leaving that I loved, and once again I couldn't put the book down. Bailey's relationship with her family, Ashley and Landon's trials with his serious health issues and how God is showing who He is to both of them, seeing how God can and will open and close doors when we ask Him to lead us, I loved all of that and more! But again I really can't give it that 5-star rating because of Bailey and Cody. I also really hope we don't have to wait through the rest of this series for them to finally realize that they ARE meant for each other and to actually start communicating with each other as all couples must learn how to do if they are going to have a good and growing relationship.

Review: I received my book in the mail and waited till I had time to really read it. I delved in with gusto and was not disappointed. One of my favorite relationships in Karen's series is that of Bailey and Jenny. My mom and I share a similar relationship...very open, challenging and special! As a result, I was looking forward to the next step in the life of Bailey. I have to admit I was expecting it to jump straight to the changes happening in her life but was glad as the story progressed that Karen took the time to build up to the actual Leaving. There are so many aspects of life that need to be addressed when moving forward and it was great to see how she dealt with them. The special moment with Bailey and her brothers brought me to tears and reminded me of the day my brother moved away and the emotions that go with the realization of "lasts"...last late night chats, last big hug just because, last running to his room to talk about something....yep those lasts are pretty special.
There are so many beautiful reminders in this book but the thing I found most challenging was the realization of cherishing the now moments in life. You can't dwell on the past and if you rush today then you miss out on the treasures waiting for you right now! Treasure your kids even in the messes, treasure your parents because you don't know how long you have with them, treasure your neighbors because they might be the ones to encourage you at just the right moments, and of course treasure those moments of quiet stillness with God. In our busy, fast paced, rush around culture it is good to be reminded via a book to realize that our time is given to us by God and we need to look forward while enjoying the right now times. I think that was my favorite aspect of the book!
Of course, Karen does a beautiful job of taking your heart on a journey as you follow the triumphs and tragedies of Ashley, the struggle and faith of Cody, the highs, lows and joys of Bailey and even the other characters which remind us of how great our God is regardless of the situation! God is faithful in the midst of it all!

Review: I've always been a fan of Karen's books. they are one of the reason's i found a place for god in my life. because i wanted the realtionship that these characters had with him. in the story we follow bailey and her family. as well as some of the well know baxter children. As they are all going thru the motions that god gives us everyday, and they do it with love and patience ,and faith that god is always with them . Cody and Bailey have always loved one another and as friends and now as more. But there are some struggles and we see that as we read this book, that god's plans for us are always encouraging and helpful . if he closes one door he will open another,and that by letting him take control we learn his love for us. Bailey has a season of change in this story, she is on her way to becoming a smart one in a million girl, and she leads by example with the rules and her love for god so that she may shine for him . Bailey, is following her heart and trusting in the lord :something that every person should do, and by doing this she is being who god wants her to be." Leaving" is an amazing story about following your dreams and sometimes letting yourself know that god is in control and he will always set your paths straight. A verse is used in the story It's jeremiah 29:11 and its a verse that helps Bailey knows that god has a role for her, and that with faith and her family, and god she will get there. So i Highly recommand this story to anyone who is a believer and believes in the plans god has for you. because he loves you and wants the best for you. Karen does not let you down with her books. they truly touch your heart and make you feel like you have a place in the story that each story was meant just for you. You always finish the book feeling so much closer to the lord. As if it was his own personal message just to you. through the words of Karen Kingsbury .
