World trade center attack
The World Trade Center attack, also known as 9/11, occurred on September 11, 2001, when 19 terrorists associated with the extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes. They crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, causing both towers to collapse. Another plane hit the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, while the fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to regain control from the hijackers. The attack resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths, making it one of the deadliest terrorist acts in history.
