THE BEAUTY AND CULTURE OF A CONTINENT

is a representation of the African continent and its vibrant culture. The central figure is a beautiful black lady, her skin glowing with the rich hues of the African sun.Her hair is styled in a traditional manner, tied up neatly, but what makes it truly unique is the hair tie. It's not just any hair tie, but one that carries the colours of the African flag. The red, green, yellow, black are woven together in a pattern, symbolizing unity, freedom, and the rich natural resources of Africa.

Black Beauty

The mantra “Black is beautiful” or Black beauty was widely popular in the 1960s. It grew out of the Civil Rights Movement of the time. The statement and its accompanying ideas encouraged Black people to embrace their natural features and to stop trying to “eliminate” their African-identified traits. Today, these same ideas are expressed in hashtags such as #blackgirlmagic, #darkskingirls, and #melaninmagic where Black people, especially young Black people, continue to celebrate their looks.
