Asake : My Beauty Icon

Asake , my beauty icon, oh how you shine, In your presence, all beauty seems to align. From the shores of Lagos to the Serengeti's grace, Your radiance lights up this vast African space. Your skin, like ebony, smooth as silk it glows, As the African sunsets in shades of crimson and rose. Your eyes, like the stars, twinkle in the night, Guiding lost souls with their gentle light. Your smile, infectious, a beacon of hope, In a world full of darkness, your laughter helps us cope. Asake , your beaut

Black Beauty

The mantra “Black is beautiful” or Black beauty was widely popular in the 1960s. It grew out of the Civil Rights Movement of the time. The statement and its accompanying ideas encouraged Black people to embrace their natural features and to stop trying to “eliminate” their African-identified traits. Today, these same ideas are expressed in hashtags such as #blackgirlmagic, #darkskingirls, and #melaninmagic where Black people, especially young Black people, continue to celebrate their looks.
