The Woman Who Came In From the Night

The second of Picasso's two full-length plays from the 1940s, Les Quatre Petites Filles, has been translated by Jerome Rothenberg from work he started a few years ago. The passage that Rothenberg uploaded on Poems and Poetics is witty and lovely, evoking Mac Wellman's play Jennie Richee and Ashbery's Girls on the Run. We'd love to read the complete play, but perhaps the Henry Darger connection is too obvious. Note from the translator: Although there may not be as much flash as in the more well-k

Don't You Ever Love a Poet

015 Don't you ever love a poet for they are a fool. Playing with deep and flowery words to write their unexpressed emotion. They don't have anything to offer. They don't have money nor gigantic castle, They can't give you your desire nor your needs. Really, they are useless. Holding a pen day and night, Conquering things with all their might. Thinking bloody words to write, Setting the candle as the light In this darkness that blocks their sight. During this midnight's cold, A poem is mold. Emot

Christian Poetry: Never Forsaken by Princess Funmi

Christian Poetry: Never Forsaken by Princess Funmi God never changes He is still the same Today and forever. Breaks protocols for his own, Even when they don't deserve it. He has changed kings, Overthrown ruling reigns, Turned Day to Night, And Night to Day. But one thing has never changed, The faithful been forsaken, Or suffering lack and hunger. The righteous are always blessed, The little with them is pressed, Given to another in need. Since I was born till now, I've never seen the righteous,

ONCE WAS I

Once was I in love, When I spent all my time in that love, Love that bored no fruits, Yet I didn't recognize this, For I had nobody to tell me, Until today I got myself to know. Once was I in those parties, Parties that I attended daily, Accompanied by all friends, Friends that gave no advice Yet I kept them, Just for friendships. Once was I very strong, Physically and mentally indeed, Strong like a lion Powerful like Samson, But today, Once was I. Once was more time I spent, Not in hard work, B

PLANTATION

We all want to bloom and bear fruits, but we originate from different seeds and the conditions of our plantation differ. Some were planted for commercial purposes where their success is guarantee because they are being planted on optimal condition. Some were planted by mistake but they will survive because they are at right conditions. They enjoy the privilege of the soil they have fall on. Some were planted at wrong conditions by mistake but their farmers are doing the lot for them to survive g

Shipwreck

004 That one gallant ship, the one I rooted for. It was sailing flamboyantly, racing with the winds, cutting through the waves, and fighting the current. But now... That one gallant ship, that one gigantic sail, has already sank down under the water. Beneath the ocean's floor its debris' the only remains. Soon it'll fade into dust, leaving only its images in our memories. —Eirlysss💧

Death on the Seas - Contemporary Nigerian Poetry

The world is seen by some as a sea (of efforts, hope, rewards) and everyone is seen as a sailor. Some sail through while some fall. This is a tribute to all those that fell.

Poem for my dieing dog

Poem for my dieing dog In the twilight of your life, you shine so bright, A loyal friend, my guiding light. With every wag, and every bark, You left an everlasting mark. Through fields we ran, in joy and glee, You were always there, right next to me. Now as you rest, in peaceful grace, Memories of our love, I'll always embrace. Your eyes, so gentle, your spirit so kind, A bond so strong, it's hard to leave behind. Though your time on Earth is drawing near, Know that I'll always hold you dear. As

A Twisted Relationship

A twisted relationship Void of trust A one sided relationship Losing its taste Such is my relationship The Other Man's fate A man who keeps his word With a woman who does not keep her word A man who follows his time With a woman who does not follow her time These are my worries The Other Man's woes A one sided affair Well, I'll say it's not fair A one sided contract A null and void contract Such are my sorrows The Other Man cries Songs From The Other Man Songs of Lexicon LEXICON'S LEXICONS

New Month

July, oh July, a month so bright and fair, With sun-kissed days and gentle summer air. The world is lush, with greens and blues abounding, And every sight and sound is so astounding. The birds sing sweetly, in the trees and skies, Their melodies a joy to all our eyes. The flowers bloom, in fields and gardens too, Their vibrant hues a feast for me and you. The warm sun shines, with all its radiant might, And fills our hearts with pure and endless light. The days are long, and full of endless fun,

Colors of Youth

003 There are certain moments of our lives that we are the brightest. Moments that we are the bravest, persistent, and reckless. We fight for our friends, beliefs, values, love, and dreams. We gave it all, a fight of all or nothing is what it screams. Moments where we believed we can have both love and friendships, full of hopes, promises, plans and building relationships. Moments where we thought that would last forever, moments that we hoped to never end-ever. Laughters would echo on all four
