HON. AGNES ATSU LAUDS CROSS RIVER LEGISLATORS FOR PROMOTING FEMALE FOOTBALL

On behalf of the Cross River State Ministry of Sports Development, I Hon. Agnes Atsu extend heartfelt gratitude to 

the esteemed Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, alongside the dedicated members of the Assembly and the House Committee on Sports, deserves commendation for their unwavering commitment to the advancement of sports in the state. 

     Their proactive approach to legislative support for sports development has set a commendable precedent. In this light, special recognition goes to Rev. Dr. Mercy Akpama for her visionary leadership in moving the motion for the introduction of a grassroots female competition in Cross River State—an initiative that promises to uplift and empower young female players across the state. 

Her recent motion advocating for the development of women's football at the community level marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to empower young women through sports.

The Cross River State House of Assembly's unanimous support for this motion underscores a progressive vision that recognizes the transformative power of sports in fostering unity, discipline, and personal growth among young women. This legislative backing not only paves the way for the discovery of new talents but also ensures that our female athletes receive the support and opportunities they rightfully deserve.

In alignment with this vision, the Ministry has initiated several programs aimed at nurturing young talents. This is a reflection of our dedication to providing platforms for female athletes to showcase their skills. This initiative, is set to unearth and nurture talents from the grassroots, contributing significantly to the sports landscape of Cross River State.

The collaborative efforts between the legislative and executive arms of government in Cross River State exemplify a shared commitment to creating an environment where young women can thrive academically, athletically, and economically. As we continue to champion these causes, we are confident that our collective actions will lead to a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
