Jenny was eager to start making her own money. As a 12-year old, she was too young to get an official job, but she was creative and ambitious. 

She first tried a lemonade stand outside her house on the weekends. She made colorful signs advertising "Jenny's Lemonade" and decorated up a card table. The first day she made $5. Not bad! But then it got cloudy and rainy on the weekend and no one wanted to buy lemonade.

Next, Jenny tried offering babysitting services around the neighborhood. She printed flyers saying she was available after school and on weekends to watch kids. A few neighbors hired her to watch their toddlers a couple times a week. It was fun playing with the kids, and she earned $10 an hour.

Jenny wanted to try something more unique. She decided to bake and decorate sugar cookies to sell. She spent a Sunday baking a couple dozen cookies and decorating them beautifully with icing and sprinkles. The next day at school, she told all her friends about her cookie business. She ended up getting orders for 5 dozen cookies, charging $4 for each large cookie. It was a lot of work, but the cookies were a hit!

The money Jenny earned started adding up. She was proud of herself for using her creativity to start small businesses and make some money on her own. The experience taught Jenny useful skills in marketing, customer service, and managing finances. With her entrepreneurial spirit, this was just the beginning of Jenny’s money-making endeavors.
