ESCAPING FROM ILLUSION

I would rather call an illusion a dream because it isn’t always real. You don’t get to change your life or situation by just living day by day in your illusion. You need to turn your illusion into reality. Both the successful and unsuccesful have something in common. They both have dreams. What makes the difference between an achiever and a dreamer is ACTION. Succss doesn’t just come by sitting down all day long dreaming till days turn to weeks, months and years. Illusions are more or less daydreams. A person who is too engrossed in his illusion has shut himself from his outside world and has created a space for himself.

ILLUSION IS A DISTORTED MISCONCEPTION OF REALITY

Arthur Miller’s book “Death of a salesman” is a very important case study on the negativity of dwelling on illusions. Willy is an unsuccessful business man who believes strongly in the American dream that states that everyone has equal opprotunity for success. As long as one works hard and is determined, one can achieve success. Instead, he tells his sons that one can succeed as long as one is well liked. That was his belief. Though, he believed the American dream, he distorted it.

His relationsip with his sons is at the edge of a cliff. He once cheated on his wife but in present, he keeps seeing and remebering the woman he had an affair with and hearing her voice. Though he knew he was a failure, he failed to accept it. Instead, he kept making himself believe he was still successful by dwelling on the past where his sons thought of him as a successful great dad who they were proud of. Instead of facing and accepting the present, his body was in the present but he lived in the past through his illusions thereby distorting his reality. Illusion is a distorted misconception of reality. The failure to come out of his illlusion and accept reality led to his downfall.

The only way to change reality is coming out from your illusion and embracing reality.
