Baskadia

I know why the caged birds flew away,

To escape the confines of their cage each day,

To feel the wind on their feathers, and to sing,

Without a care for what tomorrow may bring.

For they were trapped in prison, day after day,

Chained by their captors, unable to stray,

Their wings clipped, unable to soar,

Their hearts filled with a longing of something more.

And so they took flight, and left it all behind,

The cage, the rules, the limits, to free their mind,

To explore the world, and to find their place,

For in the freedom of flight, they found their grace.

So let us learn from the caged birds who have flown,

To break free from the restrictions we've known,

To spread our wings and see where they can take us,

And to overcome fears that once seemed so treacherous.

For we, too, can fly and reach up to the sky,

Like the caged birds before us, we can learn to fly.
