The thunder of a distant gun

War in its specter appears

The thunder of a distant gun,

Loud and clear it can be heard

It’s been this way since time begun.

Tears of weeping mothers

Pain and sorrow on the land,

Lives lost in the battles

No one can understand.

Brothers and sisters torn apart

The cries of the wounded, fill the night,

Families ripped to pieces

The profane dichotomy of fight.

Hope in the future dimmed

The only thing they can see

Is another day of bloodshed

And more tears to set them free.
