Battle of Trench, also called "Ghazwa-e-Khandaq" or "Battle of Khandaq," is still remembered as one of the most important wars in Islamic history for many reasons. The battle happened because the people of Quraysh wanted to get over the humiliation of losing to the Muslim army and because they were angry about being sent away by the city of Madinah.

In the year 5 A.H., the Battle of Trench took place. People usually think that the battle began in the month of Shawal and went on through the month of Ramadan. As Jews and Quraysh worked together to attack Muslims, the Muslim army stood against the Ten Thousand Kuffar. As soon as Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) heard about the enemy's plan, he and his friends talked it over and decided to dig a trench as a defence.

Hazrat Salman Farsi (RA) came up with the idea to only cover the north of the city of Madinah to protect it. As the rest of the sides are fully protected by mountains and trees, which form a natural boundary. So, if the enemy dug a trench on the north side, they wouldn't be able to get into the city.

Salman Farsi's (RA) idea was liked a lot, and when Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) told Muslims to start digging the trench right away, they did. The work was done by everyone, including the Prophet (SAWW).

The miracle of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) at Mount Dhubab

During the digging of the Trench, Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) hit a big piece of rock, which broke into pieces and gave off light. This was a miracle. On hearing this, the Holy Prophet (SAWW) told the Muslims that they would soon win against Syria, Yemen, and Persia. It was where Mount Dhubab, also called Mount Ra'yah, stood. Muslim women and children lived in the south of the city, and Muslims weren't ready for an attack from the south. So, the people of Banu Qurayaza attacked, which scared most Muslims a lot. When Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) heard this, he told Muslims to stay strong and optimistic because Allah Almighty had promised them a victory.

Then, an old man named Nuaym-ibn-Masood came up to the Holy Prophet (SAWW) and told him that he had converted to Islam. Not only did the enemy respect the man, but he was also a member of the confederates.
