Foreign player Willow Johnson, who led the Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders to a fifth-round upset, will miss the game due to injury.

Speaking to the media ahead of their Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Women's League Round 5 home game against IBK IBK on Friday at Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon, head coach Marcello Abondanza said, "Some of the players who played in the previous game are not available today. It's difficult to continue the good flow perfectly," he said.

The 'difficult player to play' Abondanza was referring to was Yelena's replacement, foreign player Willow Johnson. Willow Johnson made her debut against Korea Expressway Corporation on March 30, scoring 67 points in four games to lead Heungkuk Life to their fourth straight win in five rounds, but suffered a knee injury on March 12 against Suwon Hyundai E&C.

A representative from Heungkuk Life said, "Willow's right knee ligament is swollen. The injury is minor," a Heungkuk Life official said of Willow's condition.

Coach Abondanza said, "I'm a little worried about her performance because she has some physical issues, but she's fine. The players are playing better. I feel like we have grown and gotten stronger as we have practiced a lot together during the All-Star break. 

 The team atmosphere is good," he said, hoping that the existing players will fill the void left by Willow Johnson.

The biggest target for IBK is setter Ponpun, who hails from Thailand. "They have a good defense and a good setter," Abondanza said. We have to play our best. The key is to not allow their setter to play the way she wants to play."

In the absence of Willow Johnson, Heungkuk Life started with Lee Ju-ah, Lee Won-jung, Kim Yeon-kyung, Kim Soo-ji, Kim Mi-yeon, and Reina.
