What social media means to me and the impact of the society

I was born in the 80s and during the 90s computer Isnt really introduce us on how important computer to the society. My parents never mention about computers, during that time computer doesn't have impact to the youth. I started college in the year 2001-2002. My first subject was introduction to computer, I was amazed by how tiny is the computer screen and the fundamental of computers. We were thought the important uses of computers. After learning all the computer and internet stuff. I got to explore more on computers and the important usage and its function. In the same yr, I played computer games and online games like diablo, dota and ragnarak. In my mind computer was just entertainment and kept you updated to the world. I was bored after 1 yr playing computer games, so I joint social media. I remember I joint MySpace, friendster, tag and yahoo messenger. Those old school social media before that you dont have much option to connect with other friends or chatted friends around the world. MIRC was the only social media platforms where people from all over the world can talk (well, type) in a virtual meeting place called a "channel." Before Telegram’s fancy stickers and Yahoo! Messenger’s background themes, this text-based platform got the job done especially if you were looking to hang out with like-minded people. MIRC also connect to a different counrty and would give you chance on having friends online. During my time, we use social media in a friendly way "think before you click" that's our mindset before. Until facebook came, facebook way much better compared to other social media flatform. Old school social media has been shutdown. Facebook has been rapidly bloomed to the world, you can do business on facebook like online sales, posting your product or any kinds of product. Facebook has easy access to your family, friends all over the world. Facebook has the best offers and almost everything is free to use. 4.74 billion social media users around the world in October 2022, equating to 59.3 percent of the total global population. As I get to used social media for how many years, compared to the year that I started. Social media now is so chaotic and toxic. The increase of use in social media, people would often forget about the important of family bonding, communicate in a way that you'll be able to talk to your friends and family in a good manners. In this young generation, starting at the age of 11 are increasingly living their lives online, they are also subject to cyber bullying. Rumours spreading and get unrealistic views of others’ lives, Other spreading fake news. It's neither positve or negative impact to the people, its 's up to them on how to deal with all the fake news wether you take it for grandted or you take it serously that might distroyed certain individuals. Some people take it serously in a way that they all believe those fake news those spreading online lies and of course the victim would suffers everything and it even deals with suicide. Its so toxic that affects both the younger and the older generations. High use of social media increases the likelihood of people feeling anxious, depressed, or lonely. Not really in general but this is just base in my observation. How can we protect those younger generation from the toxication of social media. Young generation are out of hand using social media, its so uncontrollable in a way that they can't control themselves. I will always advice those young generation not to focus in social media. Youth should focus in sports or any outdoor activities, read more books. Parents should limit their children the usage of social media and educate them the negative and positive effect. We the older generation should guide the young generation for a better and friendly way of using social media.
