Characters plays an important role in development of a theme in a story.Characters are the main tools for directing the whole story. Theactions, reactions, thinking, aims,emotions and feelings of

characters supports the theme of the story.

Characters functions as a medium,which the writer uses for the delivery of the main

theme through the perspectives and actions of the characters.

The importance and functions of the characters in theme development and progression are as under:
