Treatment for acid reflux
Acid reflux is a condition that occurs when stomach acid flows back up into the esophagus, the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach. This can cause a range of symptoms, including heartburn, chest pain, and a sour taste in the mouth. Acid reflux is often caused by a malfunctioning lower esophageal sphincter (LES), a ring of muscle that separates the esophagus from the stomach. The LES is supposed to close tightly after food passes through it.
