Trauma - what it is and where it comes from.
Trauma is caused by a disturbing stressful event which we cannot cope with. But life is impossible without stress.
The first stress a person experiences while being born, and according to some reports, even earlier - in the womb. And over the course of life, the number of stressful situations naturally increases.
At the same time, it can improve or ruin one's stress tolerance. Whether an experience becomes a useful lesson or a trauma depends not only on the scale of the stressful situation, but also on the capacity of the person's mental health at any given moment, as well as on the support that the person receives during or after the traumatic event.
