Losing a parent when you've barely even had a chance to know them is just something else I cannot comprehend. I lost my papa just before I turned a year old. The only memory I have of him is photos...he only had 3 existing photos left behind. I feel and know I love him;...the resemblance and the smile he left portray the hero that brought me to this world. Every Father's Day is a celebration and a moment of silence for the man I did not get a chance to pay my last respect to. I know life would have been better and different if he was present. My life choices would be guided just by the presence of his being. My family would not be broken at such a fragile age. All I can ask is "Why so soon Daddy?" I know someone else was shattered more than I could ever be....My Mama. I write this because her strength has held us two as a family and raised a strong woman inside. Yapahuwa served as the capital of Sri Lanka in the latter part of the 13th century (1273–1284). Built on a huge, 90 meter high rock boulder in the style of the Sigiriya rock fortress, Yapahuwa was a palace and military stronghold against foreign invaders. The palace and fortress were built by King Buvanekabahu I (1272–1284) in the year 1273. Many traces of ancient battle defences can still be seen, while an ornamental stairway, is its biggest showpiece. On top of the rock are the remains of a stupa, a Bodhi tree enclosure, and a rock shelter/cave used by Buddhist monks, indicating that earlier this site was used as a Buddhist monasterylike many boulders and hills in the area. There are several caves at the base of the rock. In one of them there is a shrine with Buddha images. One cave has a Brahmi script inscription. At the southern base of the rock there is a fortification with two moats and ramparts.
