Then God said “take your son, your only son, whom you love-Isaac and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you”. (Genesis 22: 2, NIV)

Abraham’s Sacrifice of Isaac was a dramatic demonstration of faith which is the conspicuous example in the Patriarchal age. Remember God has Promised Abraham a son even in His old age.

He (Abraham) has waited for a hundred years; yes, a whole century then he begat Isaac. God knew Abraham wholeheartedly loves Isaac; his affirmed son of old age (Gen. 22:2). But Abraham showed an extra-ordinary gesture of faith towards God; a kind of image attribute of a true Adventist (those expecting the second coming of Christ).

Abraham believed that God will make a way even when it seems impossible with men. These were evident in Genesis 22: 7, 8; when Isaac asked “where is the Lamb for a burnt offering? How firm Abraham was in faith and his obedience to God resulted in an assured response of a father to a curious son, “God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering”.

The offering of Isaac from Abraham has demonstrated the obedience of Abraham and even Isaac his son to God. The Bible accounts that Abraham believed that even if Isaac was totally going to be used for sacrifice, there is a resurrection morning (Heb. 11:19).
